Starts at about 10 minutes good stuff starts at about 20 minutes in. A lot of info on ISU athletic budget and where it comes from. 48% of the revenue comes from the XII, of that 48%, 60% comes from TV. Going to do whatever it takes to keep Campbell.

Big take away, in 2021 they will probably have to re-index the cyclone club donation levels, meaning they will have to go up. They talk about that starting at about minute 25.

Great things ahead for ISU.

As societal changes are challenging support all over the country, we’re fortunate to be offsetting that with positive demographic changes. The number of local Iowa Staters is increasing. A generation with football and basketball success in the early 2000’s have moved into the primary support pool. Just wait until we have a couple breakthrough years to capture some T-shirt fans.

The Big 12 is well positioned, particularly with the struggles of the PAC 12 and ACC.

Video is buffering every 10 seconds. Argh!

Finally got time to watch the video, love it. JP does an amazing job. It makes me want to just throw a blank check onto the stage and tell JP to use it as he pleases. (Just keep the amount in the 3 figure range and don’t cash it until next Friday)

I'd already seen the 2 minute video of the new area and heard JP on the radio. But this was still a very informative video.

Affirms my thoughts that we're lucky to have JP at ISU

I thought the graphs showing the revenue sources was pretty sobering. No shock that conference TV pays the bills. I've been a part of companies that owed the majority of its revenue to one or two customers. That's stressful.

This is a brilliant vision forward and I hope it is completed sooner rather than later, so it can bring in millions for the department.

I found it pretty encouraging. It’s lower than I expected.

I’m guessing a lot of athletic departments get a majority of their revenue from a couple sources.

That is likely correct, I didn't mean to say that ISU was the exception, but as Pollard referred to OU and UT as schools to emulate, I understand where he wants Iowa State to go. Both those schools have diverse revenue streams. If Pollard can replicate a smaller version of non-ticket or donation revenue based, Iowa State is in a very enviable position going forward.

Folks. Wintersteen and Pollard and are visionaries

The Iowa State Center is long past being due for a refresh. The area wasn't all that great 20 years ago.

To have this athletic/entertainment complex at the heart of ISU athletics and the community of Ames is a tremendous opportunity

Home run and then some. Amazing work. Some will resist this change, but the days of cheap tickets must come to an end for ISU to be successful

What happened the last time they "re-indexed" the Cyclone Club?

And what do you expect to happen this time?
  • More tiers at the higher donation levels?
  • Fewer tiers at the lower donation levels?
  • Lost perks at the lowest donation levels?
I'm feeling pretty stable at Captains level and expect the changes to take place above and below me.

How about RV's? I've heard vague statements over the years about a new RV lot with pull-through spots and utilities, but there was nothing in the presentation about it. Pollard is probably working on something and just wasn't ready to disclose it. But intriguing minds (with RV passes) want to know.

That's a good question, I have no idea. They have a hard time selling out the $250 donation level right now the way it seems.

Love the line at about 31:30.

"We're going to do whatever it takes to keep coaches that are successful. At the same time we are going to figure out what to give them beyond compensation, to be successful"

How was it sobering though? I mean, TV money is the business model of big business, P5 athletics.
