Any other places of interest we shouldn't pass up?

Thank you in advance!

7,000 year old stone road discovered underwater in Adriatic Sea

"The team says the road once connected Korčula Island to an artificially made island settlement called Soline, which is now nearly 16 feet below the water’s level. Researchers believe this was all an active site roughly 7,000 years ago.

Using radiocarbon dating, the team tested wood preserved in the road, and were able to date the thoroughfare and connected settlement to 4,900 BC. Researchers describe the structure of the road as “carefully stacked stone plates” that run about 13 feet in width."

Friday OT #2 - And the Chicks For Free

Thanks so much to @drlove for today’s second topic!

MTV News is no more. This is one in decades of changes for the net work, which originated as a music channel, if you can believe it at this point. What are your favorite MTV moments? Or most memorable? Are you a big Pauly Shore fan? Did you watch Spring Break with Eric Nies religiously?

My most memorable is cheating, but I have the advantage of being first. I remember being at a hotel for a school event when Kurt Loder broke the news of Kurt Cobain‘s passing. That was a huge shock, I was a freshman or so - so old enough to be a huge Nirvana fan, but too young to understand addiction fully.

I don’t know that I have a favorite - I did used to watch when they would do the top 100 videos of all time each year!

Friday OT #1 - “I Ripped My Underwear”

That is a direct quote from @JM4CY, as is the below. I want to make very sure nobody thinks these hilarious words came from me:

“I ripped my undies putting them on today. Not because I’m fat (honestly) but because I don’t throw away anything and keep certain things way beyond what might be reasonable because I’m cheap. That pair was going on probably 10+ years of service. Or like dress shoes for work. Mine probably look like hell but they get the job done, just like my briefs. What everyday items do you keep way beyond what some might consider sane?”

2026 Instate Names to Watch

Here are a few early guys to keep an eye on that could be potential targets. If you know of any others post them.

Jude Gibson 6’ PG. Ballard

Thought to be potentially the best prospect in the state for 2026. Averaged 15.2 PPG 4.3 Assists and 4.7 Rebounds.

Sam Mbingazo 6’10 C. Iowa City High.

Moved to Iowa City from the Congo this year to live with his uncle. Hawkeyes are all over him I’m sure. If he stays in Iowa he will be one of the highest recruited players in Iowa for awhile. Averaged 7.5 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 1.2 BPG

Evan Jacobson 6’7 F Waukee

Yes Michael’s brother so the bloodline is there. Limited varsity minutes as he was behind two very good seniors but he will take a big leap forward next year. Already has great size for a freshmen. Skilled big man. Will be interesting to see if he keeps growing and can compare to his brother.

Door County Trip

Since this is turning into a travel forum….

Wife and I are doing a long weekend in early June for our 10th anniversary. One night in Sturgeon Bay, 2 nights in Sister Bay.

Our plan is to basically bike around the peninsula as well as Washington Island over 3 days. 50-60 miles each day, with plenty of stops at bars/wineries/breweries as well as hitting up spots like Peninsula State Park, and Whitefish Dunes/Cave Point Park too. At night we’ll go out in the aforementioned towns.

Just looking for some recs, tips, and advice from folks more seasoned with area. I went twice in grade school (early 90’s) and my wife has never been.

Lance Blanks RIP

Somehow I missed that he died a few days ago, and now his daughter has come out and announced he died by suicide. The guy was not my favorite announcer, but seemed like a quality human and it just goes to show how terrible depression and mental health issues can be.

Garage Gym Competition - any others participating?

It runs Saturday to Sunday and this will be my first year participating.

If you have a home weight set (or basement, cellar, shed, kitchen, wherever - just not a commercial gym) you can win some nice home gym equipment. Just submit a lift and you get entered in the drawing. Prizes are not based on how much you lift. Basically no requirements other than do a lift, post the video and tag them, and fill out their form.

Google Search To Include Social Media, Forums, etc

Social media's influence on society has to be one of the worst (non-war or disease) things to take place in the past century.

While a new tab isn't a big deal - they're also going to include in search results.
