Zeb Noland transferring

Some of you guys really overvalue having someone on your team that doesn’t want to be on your team. Have you never worked on any team projects in college or at work?
So if he does indeed transfer, what's this show kids or other high school players wanting to be a cyclone, that it's ok to quit on your team when things don't go right or go your way.

If he does indeed transfer, why would he give a **** what it looks like to kids or high school players wanting to be a Cyclone?

You genuinely think you know more than the guys that the entire year coaching these kids? Damn impressive.

Wow.... you sure told me. Yikes. Get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning or what?

I said CMC said everything a coach basically has to say in this kind of situation with Zeb. I'm not faulting CMC in any way shape or form. But I'm sure your excellent reading comprehension skills understood that, right?

All I'm saying is that I believe our QB situation without Zeb is a bit shakier than CMC would ever admit, that's all. We have a #1 who takes a ton of big hits, and a #2 coming off injury and hasn't basically played football since last year for the most part. After that it's anyone's guess?

Zeb didn’t play that well in the games he played in. Poor play is what led to Purdy’s opportunity.

We have a #1 QB that hasn’t even missed a play yet because of a hit. Kempt is mending and probably healed. And we have Real yet. So QB room is still light years ahead of what we had last year. Kempt was injured last year and who backed up Zeb when he replaced Kempt.

I don’t think this is just Zeb quitting on the team because he is not the starter. At least I hope not. If so I think he would have done this several weeks ago. From all accounts including the Purdy family, Zeb has been a very supportive teammate. I hope Zeb’s leave of absence is short lived and he is able to finish out the season with his teammates. If he chooses to transfer after the season following our bowl game I wish him all the best and hope he has fond memories of Ames, Iowa State University and the fellowship of his teammates to reflect upon for the rest of his life.

Having Zeb transfer mid-season isn't ideal for ISU. But I can't blame football players protecting a year of their eligibility with the new 4 game redshirt limit. It's pollyanna to think a kid shouldn't protect/maximize their future playing opportunities. People are fooling themselves that they wouldn't do the same thing if they were in Zeb's position or wouldn't do a similar thing regarding a professional decision.

The 4 game redshirt rule is a good thing, but this is one of the unintended consequences. I heard a Kirk Ferentz radio interview a couple weeks ago and he is a proponent of 5 years to play 5. IMO that makes a lot of sense, why limit the # of games?

Going to next year, the room isn't in a great shape and there's a 0% chance Purdy is never hurt.

Zeb already redshirted. He’s not getting another year.

Man, nothing more popular to talk about on here than Hawks and backup QBs.

Well if someone would post the stat sheet from the Badger scrimmage you could revive the scrimmage thread with a analysis from the scrimmage.

Real Mitchell has a whole lot of time to get better and then we have true Freshman Easton Dean. With the 4 games for freshmen rule I am not as concerned as you. I would like to have Zeb back. But I don’t think Zeb’s absence is going to decimate us.
