WWJD- What Will Jamie Do?

$3.4 million extra has come in last 2 years from donations from Director & Victory donors only according letter sent out by Jamie this week. That's new money from increase in donations. They're not increasing because we lost to every big 12 team last year in football.

Jamie might not like going through this for a 3rd straight year with Fred's agent. Well, if you don't like it go AD at Creighton.

Who says he hasn't tried. Maybe Fred just wants to coach in the NBA. Maybe ISU was his dream job and he lived the dream for 5 years. Maybe now he just wants to coach basketball and not deal with glad-handing boosters and babysitting 18 year olds. Maybe he is afraid he can't live up to the enormous expectations Cyclone Nation has placed upon him and doesn't want to tarnish his image.

Point is, we don't know so why assume the worst of JP?

I'd like to see Fred decide to stick one more year and take the Timberwolves job next year. He could name tj head coach in waiting.

I wouldn't care at all if we brought in a guy that put more emphasis on defense in rebounding. Being the Virginia or Wisconsin of the Big 12 doesn't sound bad at all to me.

An improvement in those areas definitely needs to happen but watching hoiball is much more fun than slowing it down all the time.

Yea I don't get the Hornacek talk dude. Hornacek will be lucky if he doesn't get fired next year. I know Jeff Hornacek was a great player, but so were Clyde Drexler and Isaiah Thomas. There are way more cases of people ending up like them than there are Fred Hoiberg. We have hired top young coaches like Tim Floyd and Larry Eustachy before and we can do it again. We have the best 4 year run in the history of ISU basketball, we need someone who wont drop the ball instead of rolling the dice with on-the-job training again. Just my two cents. Having said that I fully expect T.J. to be the H.C. next year.

I don't get how you couldn't want Hornacek. I think he would be the perfect replacement if Fred leaves

Just win. That's what counts. Frankly a slower pace and playing D would actually help in the tourney.

Floyd and LE played a slower pace and LE had the best 2-yr period in our history.

LE also lost to Hampton as a 2 seed. Playing a slower pace and playing D didn't help much in that game.

"Fred, you can make 4 million dollars in Ames and coach up to 40 games a year OR you can make 4 million dollars in Chicago and coach up to 110 games a year."

Fred, you can make $4 million, coach 40 games a year, babysit a bunch of 18 year olds, watch/meet recruits from all over the country, follow a million stupid NCAA rules or risk violation, glad-hand a bunch of boosters, and get stopped every time you go out to get groceries or church...

Or do you want to make $4 million and coach 110 games?

NBA season is grueling. October through June anyway. Plus the draft. Plus the offseason and pre-season. And the travel schedule is brutal.

LOL if you think that is more stressful than the college basketball recruiting process and babysitting college age men for less money.

When are some of you going to realize that Fred is going to do whats best for him. You don't pass up a chance to coach a historic franchise that is a title contender like Chicago to coach a garbage franchise like Minnesota. I don't care how much young talent they. That's like passing up a chance to coach the Patriots and going to the Raiders.

Your post is a really really dumb post. First off, the bulls aren't the lakers or the knicks or the Celtics. 2nd of all the bulls are in no way a title contender. Not this year not next year not last year. That ship sailed long ago. Comparing the Bulls to the patriots is completely laughable. The Bulls need to rebuild, the twolves already have a headstart.

If Jordan was still in Chicago, I'd agree. Fred also knows both owners, and Taylor is by far the easier one to please.

To those that say it's not about the money with Fred, just stop. It may not be only about the money, but it's definitely about the money. It's always about the money.

I just disagree. I'll refine my statement to 'it's not primarily about money'. As I was just discussing in another thread - it's about reaching the pinnacle of your profession. At least to Fred, the pinnacle of the coaching profession is the NBA. Being the best in your profession of course comes with more money, but that doesn't mean it's about the money.

I never said that they were the Celtics or Lakers. They are probably just a notch under the Knicks. It's a top 5 NBA job for sure. If they can get a coach to light a fire under Derrick Rose's *** they are a title contender for sure. There really aren't any truly dominate NBA teams right now IMO. Chicago is also a destination for top free agents, something Minnesota will never be. It's just a better job dude. If you guys want to keep pretending the T-Wolves job is a better that's fine. As stated in the post above, this is about getting to the pinnacle of the basketball coaching profession.
