Given that a national championship capable team is already in place for the upcoming season, $ and location may be a less of a factor. Not many prospective coaches (at any school) get to step into a national championship capable team already in place in year 1.
Agree*. Those may be lower hurdles than ISU has been able to offer in previous coaching changes. It'd at least offset potential disadvantage of timing (it could've been more realistic to get a college coach to jump to ISU in late-March compared to late-May).
*I consider it more of "Final Four capable" team than national title, but that's another discussion; your basic point stands.
