**Official "What will/is Jamie up to" thread in regards to the Iowa State Basketball Situation**

Jamie has already been associated with sightings at a few airports within the last 24 hours. I assume he he has consulted Gary Thompson for advice in this situation, and if there will be a need for a coaching search, in addition to other former players and people associated with the program. Since no news is breaking, he is either:

A) Courting donors to get Fred a raise;
B) Beginning a coaching search to find ISU's next Head Basketball Coach.

Guessing Gary Thompson is no longer in the loop on coaching searches for Iowa State, but I do think Jamie is beginning a coaching search with a firm...B

A is pointless and doesn't really take any work.

B (in my opinion) has been going on for a couple weeks.

Regarding B, I expect Jamie will talk to Hornacek and a couple others whose names will float. After a bit of time, but not real long, he'll name Otz the coach.

Agreed. My thoughts exactly

Yes, me too. I would imagine that this is a long shot, but it's worth hoping for anyway.

It's the only name that I think is at least a remote possibility that I can see coming here that I like better than Otz. Archie Miller, Gregg Marshall, etc aren't coming here.

If we can land Hornacek somehow that will be about as happy as I can get if Fred leaves.

I would love it but I don't see him moving back to Iowa unless we pay him in the $3m (at least $2.6).

Not sure why JP would be able to pay him more than Fred.

Worth a call obviously but I don't see it.

I think Otz is Option 5, but the most sure-thing option. Options 1 and 2 have to be somewhat long shots, just to gauge interest, and Options 3 or 4 have to be where Jamie most expects to land a HC.

Jamie has hired 2 head football coaches and 2 head men's basketball coaches at ISU. Only one of those has a winning record. A .250 batting average for an athletic director is pretty bad. If Fred does leave, he really needs to get this pick right.

I managed to have a post that neither violated or circumvented the language filter, and didn't use combative or threatening language deleted. That has to be a first, right mods? (although I was stunned that it didn't result in language filtering).

The jist:
Pollard is going to make a mess of this. He'll probably have an embarrassing press conference at some point, and mail in the coaching search, effectively handing the job to TJ.

Search firm must be placing some calls to potential coaches if they might be interested. Otz may be just the assistant.

We love mediocrity at ISU so, don't bet on it.

He gets credit for the B12 contract money and the fact that to a lesser extent than basically all other B12 schools we had a few facility upgrades, people think he walks on water.

He seems to struggle with hiring and retaining coaches though.

Some coaches we cannot get rid of.

I really hope there aren't tears that Fred was his friend and he betrayed him, like with Gene. That presser was beyond unprofessional.

Do you honestly think that those guys would not consider coming here when they can double or triple their salary and get a roster that has the potential to be a NC team?

Honestly, we have a better hand than that.
