Apple's WWDC Keynote is today (10am PDT). Is anyone else following this with anticipation like me? What are your expectations and hopes for the new announcements?

I've heard anything from software only, to new iPhone hardware being announced (with rumors all over the map)... and possibly a cameo appearance from Steve Jobs.

My personal expectations are 32gig iPhone with video capability, and maybe lower costs on the lower end iPhone. I'm hoping for a new carrier announcement, new iPhone configuration that isn't AT&T exclusive, or at least a technology like LTE that would open the door for Verizon 2010.

I'm pretty pumped for it. I mean, not as pumped as I was this weekend when I was driving to Boone and found an almost brand new bicycle just sitting there on the side of the road, with no one around it, but I'm pumped. I'm glad I had my bolt cutters with me because now I've got a new bike and hopefully after today the possibility of getting a new iPhone.

So that'd be a 1:00 cst start?

I'm not expecting any big news from the keynote. The last 3 have been pretty ho hum. I like the iPhone but it's been a while since they've done something "game changing".

i'm curious, but not pumped. I'm getting kinda sick of apple mania.

I would eat everything on my desk if this happened. Not because I don't want a different carrier, but I'm pretty sure the exclusive deal with AT&T isn't going anywhere.

If I remember correctly, they signed a five year exclusivity deal back in about 2006 or 2007. Meaning the earliest you'd see this on another American carrier would be around 2011. The fact Apple let the 2nd generation iPhone be subsidized tells me they are pretty comfortable with AT&T.

Hopefully if a new phone is announced it has enough features to warrant me picking one up to replace my first gen. Guess we'll see.

I bet whatever it is, it will be white, smooth, and twice the price.

Not to derail the mac bashing vs mac loving...

Along the lines of the different carrier, I've heard that AT&T's exclusivity ends in 2010, as well as rumblings that Apple could break the contract if they felt it financially made sense (and recent reports have estimated their customer base to grow by over 100% if they did). Also, they have the ability to maintain the exclusivity with ATT if the new product (say, iPhone nano, or iTablet, both of which I wouldn't want) is announced and that new product can go to other carriers.

With all of that though, I don't expect any new carrier announcement, or any new hardware announcement that major. I just really wish there would be.

And work great!

To be fair, when the iPhone first came out it had plenty of issues. That said, they seem to be hitting on all cylinders with it now, so I'm sure anything they do with it now will be done well. Of course that could all go out the window if they blow something out with new hardware and everything else. Those bigger innovations are a lot harder to do cleanly than a software upgrade.
