Why do people keep saying this? I get "Fire Rhoads" but why "Replace him with Mangino"? The offense has looked bad all year with the exceptions of the first half against K-State, the second half against Toledo, and about three quarters against Texas. Having a good offense for the rough equivalent of two games out of 9 doesn't sound good enough to me

You're watching a different game then, the numbers don't lie.

I really can not bear the thought of another sub five hundred season with out football program. But, I am starting to believe Pollard is going to give Coach Rhoads another crack at it next season. Why?? He should have fired him yesterday and named Mangino interim until a head coach is hired. I really think there is no successful future with Rhoads and Iowa State!

CPR needs to go. He should have been fired after that embarrassment on Saturday. He is now 6-20 in his last 26 games, with losses to two FCS teams and getting pounded by a terrible KU team. CPR was always applauded for having his teams ready to play against anyone. Having his teams playing enthusiastic, hard-nosed football. That was the only identity his teams have ever had. That is now completely gone. It seems as if he has totally lost this program and has lost A LOT of the fan base. He needs to go.

I think Mangino can step in as interim HC for the rest of the year while Pollard HIRES HELP to find the next football coach for ISU. I don't think Mangino is the man for the job. While I believe he is better suited than Rhoads, I don't think he is right man.

Here is my list:

*Current Coordinators*
Phillip Montgomery
Mike Norvell
Pat Narduzzi
Rhett Lashlee
Scott Frost

*Current Head Coaches*
Jim McElwain
Doc Holiday
Craig Bohl

*Out of the Box*
Mack Brown
Jim Tressel

I don't know if any of these guys are the answer. I do think someone with GREAT connections to the Texas High School scene would be great. Someone who is very well respected by TX high school coaches and pitch and land TX kids to come play immediately.

"He has lost a lot of the fan base." Could you post a link or something, maybe some hard data that proves this or is this just some speculation on your part?

offense under CPR

2009 rushing 180 passing 184.7 total 364.7
2010 rushing 143.2 passing 174.2 total 317.4
2011 rushing 174.2 passing 212.2 total 386.5
2012 rushing- 150.1 passing 214,1 total 364.2
2013 rushing 143.9, passing 219.2 total- 363.1
2014 rushing 111.7 passing 250 total 361.7

looks like he's watching the same game, with the second worst offense since CPR has been here (and that's saying something) This years numbers are easily the worst, we have the least balance between rushing/passing and the passing stats are padded bc we've been playing from behind basically all season.

Oh sorry Professor, let me provide links and a source page for you. Open your eyes and ears.

If you don't realize that a lot of the fan base has lost faith in him, then you are probably one of those people who are blinded by their love for CPR. I didn't say the majority or most of the fan base, just a lot.

I am CPR fan because he loves ISU and is local. But he isn't getting it done and has shown NOTHING that makes me think he will ever get it done here.

If people want to keep a coach that has produced a 6-20 record in his last 26 games, then so be it. I just think that is completely unacceptable though. This is throughout year 5 & 6..
People always want to make Chizik out to be a big joke..yeah he was 5-19 but at least that was his first 2 years.

Great post. I actually laughed out loud when you posted numbers disproving the guy who said "the numbers don't lie."

I don't put all of the offense's issues on Mangino - it's his first year, and it's not his fault that our roster is full of offensive linemen who can't run block - but it's weird how so many people think Mangino would be a huge improvement over Rhoads when the numbers don't support it at all. It would be a tremendous roll of the dice.
