Would our situation be different...

Holy cow buddy, obsess much? Nebraska's addition of television sets to the Big Ten Network is due to its national following which I ALREADY said in this very thread is helped out by its long term athletic success. I never said it had NOTHING to do with it. My comment about "very little to do with athletic success" was specifically in regards to the original posters idea that Iowa State would be in the debate if we had some more success the past few years.

Additionally, the Big Ten is not interested in moving into the New York, St. Louis, and Kansas City markets because of those local teams long storied histories in football. Even the Notre Dame argument isn't as good because that University has a huge alumni base spread out over the entire nation.

And yet, your direct statement: "athletics has very little to do with it."
-
Why do both of these University's have a national following with a huge alumni following especially considering that their student enrollment is less than ISU's?

But yet, athletics has very little to do with it> :biglaugh:

You're right. Two Big 12 North titles and the Big Ten would be knocking down doors to get us. Let's talk again when Rutgers and their storied football program is a member of the Big Ten.

Some schools bring television sets and long term athletic success. Others just bring television sets. At the end of the day, it's about money. Maybe ISU could bring that if our level of athletic success was on par with the elite of college football. Something that will never happen.

Athletics is what drives the TV sets.

TV sets are what drives the money.

The money is what drives the expansion.

We are not talking about "other" schools. We are talking about Nebraska and ND. and from all accounts both have invites to join the Big 10.

You can bring in all the other schools you want. I'm only reffering to Nebraska and ND.

No, you are only talking about Nebraska and ND. I started by referring to Iowa State in a thread about Iowa State. I continued to talk about expansion as it applies to the whole college athletic landscape not just one or two teams, as several accounts have Big Ten invites to more than just the teams you mention. Why do you think there is a belief the Big East is as dead as the Big 12?

If you want to continue arguing with yourself and setting the framework to fit your personal analysis of the argument, go ahead.

PLEASE SHOW ME THESE OTHER INVITES> PLEASE SHOW ME. Beliefs are one thing, acuality another.

In the end, It all boils down to athletics.

Do you really believe that if ISU had the same athletic success in football that both Nebraska and ND have had in the past 100 years that we would even have this conversation? The framework pretty much speaks for itself in this case.

Do you have any other non factual "beliefs" that you want to bring up? :biglaugh:

The Nebraska and Notre Dame invites are still "beliefs". Provide me the press release from the Big Ten offices in Chicago saying differently. A Nebraska invite to the Big Ten is NOT fact, yet.

Otherwise, I repeat my last statement:

If you want to continue arguing with yourself and setting the framework to fit your personal analysis of the argument, go ahead.

Still waiting for this.

Do a google search about the Big Ten ND and Nebraska then tell us all that an invite is only a belief. YET
