Would Iowa?

Is it true that Pollard has been quoted as saying the "ISU fans have been subsidizing the BTN?"

Mediacom raised cable rates around the time they added the BTN and they didn't give me an option of whether I wanted it or not. I can guarantee I'd not have subscribed! Despite the fact I've never watched BTN, I'm paying for it - therefore, one example of an ISU fan who's subsidizing the BTN against his will. It's not a difficult concept, nor an inaccurate statement on Pollard's part...

Iowa would rather have the Big 10 not expand. Because Big 10 adding teams (most of which are better than the Hawkeyes) means the end of Iowa's BCS bowl days.
The few realistic die hard Hawkeye fans(season ticket holders for years)that are friend of mine do not want expansion. They want to play Nebby now, but feel that the Huskers will win most of the games in the future. They know that BCS chances are a hell of worsr in the new Big 11. Finally, they want no part of Texas.

Historically, no maybe about it. NU was arguably the best program of the 90's. So add in what they did from 60-90 and head, shoulders, waist, feet above Iowa. Over the last decade the 2 programs are even, but historically it isn't even close.

You're right, I misspoke by saying "maybe". I should have left that word out. No need to get your panties all in a bunch over it though.

Iowa has actually been competitive with Texas in sports..Unlike our brothers to the west.

Big Ten might have up to nine bowl connections with Big 12 dissolving.

Texas would dominate that conference. The first year they would come in....they would win it. I'm sure they would gladly play little iowa or wisconsin over osu, a&m or tech. Be careful what you wish for Big Televen.

I seem to remember a 9-3 Texas team, narrowly escaping a very average 6-6 Iowa team in the Alamo Bowl a few years back. Texas would be at a Penn State level in the Big Ten. Always predicted to win, but only gets a conference championship 1 out of 5 years.

Who cares what happened in the Alamo Bowl a few years back, has nothing to do with going forward. I get so sick of Iowa fans bringing this up any chance they get to talk about how they could be competitive with Texas.

Name a program that Iowa offers that will be competitive with Texas in ANY sport on a yearly basis.
Football - maybe
mens/womens basketball - nope / maybe in womens
baseball - nope
softball - nope
track & field - nope
volleyball - nope
swimming - nope
golf - nope
tennis - nope
cross country - maybe

I rest my case.

I can only hope that this is Pollard. Because otherwise it means there are two really disillusioned people in this state, instead of just one.

Wow, way to just pull randomness out of your a**. Funny how you conveniently left out wrestling too. Cross country and swimming? Yeah, because that's relevant.

In any case, don't expand the constraints to support your own agenda, my response was in reference to Texas winning FOOTBALL championships. And yes, they would have a much more difficult time winning the Big Ten then the Big 12.

Their only obstacle to a Big 12 Championship every year is Oklahoma. After that, it's on to the Conference Championship game against the latest Big 12 North sacraficial lamb. A & M, Tech, Oklahoma State are a harder stretch than PSU, Iowa, and Wisconsin?? Holy s*** thats funny! Let's add Ohio State and Michigan (usually) into the equation, and it becomes even more laughable.

Just because Texas has made ISU and the rest of the Big 12 their little b**** over the last decade, doesn't mean the same would happen in the Big 10. They would be forced to play teams who ACTUALLY PLAY DEFENSE week in and week out, and their record (and depth) would suffer because of it. I realize it probably makes you feel better to think that Texas would dominate, but that's not reality. Like I said, Texas would be at a Penn State level in the Big Ten. That is the BEST they could hope for.

I'd rather have just about anyone other than Texas. Based upon what I've been reading over the last couple of weeks, Texas just doesn't seem like they would be a good partner. They don't seem to be willing to be in an equitable relationship with the other members of the conference.

Texas, wants their cake and they want to eat it too. Then when they are done with that they want to break into your house and eat the majority of your cake too.

texas and the bugeaters would own the squawk's arse every year.that is why the squawks do not want texas in the big 10.texas would kick the squawk's country arse every year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
