The money line was -4500, ISU was a 30 point dog, ISU was marching out a 3rd string QB, and had a whopping 7 points the previous week.

After looking through their seasons since the start of the big 12, their loss to Oklahoma State in 2001 is also in contention. Because OSU was 4-7 that year, it was at Oklahoma, and Oklahoma's only other loss was at #3 Nebraska. If they won that game they'd have played Colorado with the chance to play #1 Miami in the national title game. Granted, that's a rivalry game and they may have been using their starting QB, but still
That's because now there are 75 college sports channels, 20,000 online blogs and websites, and 5 billion hours of coverage every day. That amount of "content" takes a lot of talking heads and hack journalists, and every incremental head is a little worse at their job than the previous one.
The 9,744th best college sports commentator is probably not a huge upgrade on the average idiot poster here (myself included).
It's a lot different than when there were 4 networks, 100 newspapers, and probably 500 people nationwide covering the sport. If you were mediocre then, you were unemployed. Now, you can be the next Cowherd or Finebaum just by being loud enough and going viral by accident.
