The owner of Zapp's recently died of throat cancer in Houston, Texas.

His stated desire for his potato chip company was for it to be producing the best potato chips "50 years after he is gone".

I don't eat potato chips - EVER. But I tried these recently and I am now a Zapp's addict in training.

They cater to the Creole style flavors loved down here - think New Orleans spice, but also have bland flavors for those not so inclined.

Best sellers for spice is Cajun Crawtator. In the NorthEast, best sellers are regular and salt & vinegar.

Definitely try my favorite so far - the Salt & Pepper. Nicely spicey, but not too much. You will eat the whole bag and be wanting more. So order extra!

Try them, you'll be glad you did. Order them direct to your home over the internet direct from the company.

For those who know I'm speaking truth, please give Zapp's a shout out.

EDIT PPS: They have a New Orleans Saints (Who Dat), LSU, Texas and Texas A&M flavors for the football programs. Let's get an ISU Flavor once enough of you have converted to the real deal. We'll have a vote for the favorite flavors for a football tailgate and ask them to start making an ISU flavor if enough of you get on board.

I've only tried the Cajun Crawtator chips, but they are delicious. Our neighbors own a little cajun shop, I like to stop there and browse around.

Zapp's and potato chip addicts thank you for your rep.

I haven't tried the Cajun Crawtator yet, but just ordered some. Can't wait.

Get your hands on a salt & pepper bag - sounds weird, tastes better than you would expect and let me know what you think if you can get your hands on one.

An ISU flavor seasoned with pork and sweet corn?

Would that be pork Rind flavor or Pork BBQ flavor?

I like the sweet corn idea and have no idea how you would make such a flavoring, but I bet ISU extension/food services probably already have one being made in the labs as we speak...

Zapps are awesome. Give 'em a try if you haven't, and you'll be hooked. Jalapeno is my favorite.

Why...should I be looking for additional junk food options to crave in my already unhealthy American diet?

The sad this is you admited you didn't used to eat potatoe chips, now you do.

What's next -- I didn't used to smoke, but I tried this new cig that just came out and damn! I'm hooked!!

There's a couple of lines from the movie Moonstruck that come to mind in this case:

"Cosmo, You're gonna die. There - I said it. Now stop seeing that tramp."

Cosmo : "All right Loretta."

And I don't eat potatoe chips, which I assume come from toe jam which would be unhealthy. But I do eat potato chips, which are healthy. Ever hear of the potato famine? People were starving & dying for a potato. So what did they do? That's right, they moved to America, land of the fried potato.

Now do your ancestors proud and order some chips! Sargent Gunney says "That's an order private!"

Oh, and do exercise restraint. Moderation in all things - so slow down on the carrots and tofu too.:cute:

There is an alternate position on this espoused by Jack LaLane: Exercise like a fiend and "if it tastes good, spit it out!" However, it should be noted he also says a glass of wine every night is a good thing, so so much for the if it tastes good spit it out bit, unless he's drinking ripple.

So while downing your third bag of chips, I recommend a wheat grass and carrot juice smoothie. There - I said it. Jack LaLane has just the juicer for you. Stay up late enough and you'll see the infomercial for it.
