Winter Weather 2/19- 2/20

See you haven't followed our weather threads. I'm one of the few taking delight in all the glorious snow. ;)
I shovled snow in Ames through the 60s, 70s, and 80s. No snow blower. Get off my lawn. That's impressive to maintain driveway integrity at 10 plus feet.

That area always gets a ****load of snow though.

The amount of snow we've been getting is at or near record levels for here.

I mean sort of. Yes, it you take an arbitrary 40 day period, yes it's probably going to beat a record. If we're talking amount of snowfall during a winter it doesn't even come close. At around 40 for the winter so far yet the record is 72. All data based off Des Moines.

I mean the point is to show is we're getting a large amount of snow (a winter's worth) during a short period. Had the 40" been spread more through december and early january it would have been a lot less frustrating as that's easier to deal with.

Even if you just say 'from Jan 1-today, apparently you have to go back to 1886 to have a snowier year.

I get up every day and make the mistake of looking at my IPhone's 10 day weather forecast.

I've got to stop, ten days from now (last day of February) high of 20.

How can it stay this locked in?

This is very fluid being 5 days out but this one has the potential to be a doozy this next weekend.

Yes, its only one model run but this is the potential 5 days out in Carroll.

Des Moines is far less but still here is a lot of opportunity for the system to move.
