WILLIAMS: What's next (potential candidates)

Do you know that he isn't just calling people and offering out of the blue?
By the time you make an offer, you pretty much know if the person will accept it.

Yes, but my point is that there has to be mutual interest. Not everyone that JP is interested in will be interested in the job.

I think it is so cute that everyone on here thinks that every coach is going to be interested in this job.

I think not. Iowa State is a great job. Great fans. Great facilities. It's easy to be successful in the Big 12. There are a lot of 5 star recruits in Iowa.

I suspect Mullen is calling JP now. But JP is probably talking to Tony Alford.

What do you get out of this?

Gonna guess it won't be anyone on this list. That is how JP works.

Still think ink it will be Toledo's coach. The Ayeni connection makes too much sense.

I think Matt Campbell is a solid option as well. Had an 1100 yard rusher every year he's coached at Toledo (since 2012 plus the bowl game in 2011). Went 9-4, 7-5, 9-4, and will have at least 9 wins this year. I don't know much about his staff but Ayeni has certainly been impressive since he got here.

Curious if you see this CW, was there a reason you didn't list Campbell in your write-up? Just wondering if you know something we don't.

I kind of stuck up for you in the basketball thing, but now I'm seeing why you annoyed the **** out of everyone during that.

you have to be one lonely person

Dude are why you so mad

Stay away from NDSU head coach Chris Klieman, he's from Iowa & beat you already but he wouldn't stoop to that.

Coach Bohl from NDSU/Wyoming would've been a great hire if he stayed at NDSU for 5 straight titles then went to ISU.

For the Pollard haters that keep saying he needs to go all out and pay a minimum of $3 million for our next coach, you need to think this through. What coach out there worth $3 million to us couldn't get something similar from one of the other numerous positions out there that are all better jobs than ISU? Chances are we are going to be giving someone a chance that didn't have any other great opportunities yet and therefore we won't have to pay much.

He said ISU needs to take a look at Mark Farley @ UNI. Almost implied that they will

good gawd no...

Farley hates ISU. He kisses Kirk Ferentz' butt. His shtick works great at UNI. A disaster for ISU if it ever came true

I will burn my diploma if Farley is hired.

Does anybody remember what the rumored amount Pollard was willing to go for our next basketball coach? Was it $4/$5 million? I wonder if that still stands or if it's even higher since Prohm's contract is smaller than Hoiberg's. I could see that salary as a small possibility if there is a worthy candidate. I can't think of any.

Exactly. There isn't a coach out there that warrants that much who is going to consider the ISU job. The 3 m type of guys will have better options than ISU.

Don't worry, he's garbage. We don't want him. He's all yours. Still tide no coat tails.
