Will There be a Policy Change?

i would say to keep it open to uncommitted high school prospects. now that HB is of the table, the doors should close - if for no other reason that for McD to avoid any tampering accusations.

Agreed, the coach should make the call, but they need fans have every right to make thief feelings known.

Absolutely, but that's probably where it should end. The population's desire to be angry shouldn't override what is best for our team. If keeping the level of our practice competition up helps develop skills, then that is most important to the team.

Not going to be an issue. Barnes had 100% access b/c he lived in town. Even if someone else had it, they probably couldn't use it nearly as much. Even Jok would have to drive 45 minutes to use it.

Giving Barnes access was the right move. It was the only way to try and make him see that staying at Iowa State was good thing. It didn't work. But I'd want them to do it again.

Before the BB facility opened the team practiced in State. State gym has always been open to any Ames resident. From what I understand that is what allowed HB to play pickup games with our current players. Does anyone know if HB actually played with the team at the new facility or was this all at State? Being you need a security card to get into the new facility, there might be some NCAA regs preventing us from letting anyone else in anyways.

I know someone who saw him shooting around at the new facility, but I don't know whether or not he's played with the players there.

We get commits and walk-ons by Ames High football players more often than basketball players. I am afraid that, if we cut off the open access policy, that it would affect our football team more than the basketball team.

I don't want Roy Williams with a mouthpiece/assistant recruiter planted in the middle of our basketball program. If you commit to another team, that's where your loyalty resides. That's who should look after you and your conditioning needs.

I'd also put that high school exhibition game with a Chicago team and its insurance obligations back onto Ames High School where it belongs. I certainly don't think Iowa State should have any part in showcasing/marketing HB. Let Roy cook up something. I think it's going to be a big flop, anyway. I'd love to see HB try to market this one.

HB touched the ghosts of Hilton Magic for the last time on LOI day. They will never come back to visit him again. He doesn't even see them. I don't want someone, who lacks apathy to his extent and is so willing to ice the spirit of Cyclone Nation, in our facilities. He's got no good reason to be there among the spirits of our heroes. He's got no heart.

There's this thing called a contract. The Ames High game is free money for Iowa State. I'd about guarantee ESPN is giving Iowa State money to cover the operating costs, and Iowa State collects the rest.

Additionally, I don't think you're going to need to worry about Harrison playing with our players anymore. He reallllllllly burned some bridges there.

If Peter Jok wants to come up and work out I bet he'd be welcomed. Limited access, not cart blanche like HB.

Wouldn't he be put off if we put restrictions on his access when we didn't do it for others?

So some of you dont want to open our facilities to 15, 16 and 17 year old schoolkids beacuse you fear that one day they wont commit to us? Let's build a fortress around the campus and put up snipers ready to strike in case an outsider is seen on our campus.
This. Someone who gets it.

Look up "Sour Grapes" in the dictionary, and I swear there will be a picture of one or another Cyclone fan next to it...:skeptical:

Real good idea here. Uncommitted is the key.

Once an accusation is out there, it tends to be true whether it's true or not, so I like the protection aspect here.

This is a big time non issue. If we want our facilities to bring us recruits (which is a major reason it was built) we have to let the recruits in. I hope Harrison keeps going. What can it hurt? If something doesn't sit well with him at UNC I would welcome him back to Ames. (so would all of you)

Regarding the game with the Chicago team, of course there is a contract, but I would still want the game played in Hilton for the following reason. I don't know who is on that Chicago team but there might be some uncommitted underclassmen that would be exposed to the experience of playing in Hilton and at ISU. It could lead to something down the road. There is a lot of talent in Chicago and with Coach Robinson recruiting there, any kind of exposure for us is a big plus.

I like the fact you train future recruits so that they can leave this state and University and play for another college, while we fight to get recruits that dont use our facility....POLLARD....SHUT THE DOORS.....why train when they play Benedict Arnold - My coinpurse can only take so much.

ONLY players that sign a LOI should be allowed to use it...simple as that..
