Will the BIG10 Reverse Their Decision?

Only ~$9M came from the AD. The other ~$59M was paid for by student fees, since it's technically a "campus rec center" -- with a competition pool. So the AD didn't take a complete bath on the deal.
Hmmm....so I guess Iowa now has one the best intramural swimming facilities in the nation.

Soon will likely be everywhere

Hate to say it, but I agree.

I still think there's about a 50/50 chance that ISU doesn't play a single down of football this season.

I hope they can pull it off though. I'm dying to see some football again.

Every week that goes by though, it seems like there's an outbreak of some sort on a college campus somewhere.

Provisional death rates from the CDC. Ignore that the curves drop to zero at the end as states are slow to get death certificates to the CDC.

First graph is Covid 19 deaths sorted by by age group.
Second graph is flu, Covid 19 and pneumonia combined deaths sorted by age group.

I didn't hear anyone screaming about the 46,000 deaths per week from Pneumonia and the flu in February.

CDC Provisional deaths Feb 1 to current

That second graph isn't COVID-19, flu and pneumonia. It's all deaths in the US for any reason. Flu and pneumonia kills like 30k-60k a year, not per week.

I believe last YEARS flu deaths were 32,400 (or 34,200). I would guess covid will end up at 200, 000 - 250,000.

Are they still making every death as Covid even if there’s no relation or did they get that fixed? Honest question I don’t follow as close anymore. I just remember a few months ago family’s trying to figure out why their family member was marked as dying from Covid when they were killed by gunshot.

I hope they can play too. I will not be going, first time in 51 years.
But, I foresee the cases continuing to increase. I think school will go on line, and then the issue will be do you play football without students? As I already said, I am not sure you can have a tight enough bubble to make college football work.

know a family whose dad was given a two months to live from cancer. He went into hospice after 5-6weeks and passed away with in days. When they got the death certificate back, they asked the doctor why it said he died of Covid. Dr said they tested him and he tripped a positive test. There are some that aren’t fully spot on with that.

I think this is one of those feel good comments from Saban. Is it true - partially. Yes, there are players who can make a lot of money for themselves and their families. I do feel sorry for them. But, Nic, it’s about the money. Athletic Departments at most schools (maybe not Alabama) will go broke or be in a huge hole with no football. There is huge financial pressure to play. If that did not exist, I think everybody would have already shut down.

Well, my uncle died of a stroke in March, and they called it a stroke - so there.
I imagine there are always some deaths mischaracterized, but if you think that has already happened at least 140,000 times, you are pretty gullible.

It’s election year, they are pumping up the numbers.

This was never happening, if you think it was you need to reexamine your sources of information.

Oh really? 100% accurate huh? Setting the bar incredibly high.

Washington admits errors, https://www.google.com/url?q=https:...FjAJegQICRAB&usg=AOvVaw2C8p02Fy1WpoCdNe9FaGnF

Colorado adjusts numbers, https://www.denverpost.com/2020/05/15/colorado-covid-coronavirus-counting-deaths-fatalities/

Pennsylvania removes 200 from count, https://www.inquirer.com/health/cor...t-changes-confusion-coroanvirus-20200423.html

To claim that the numbers never changed over the months is ludicrous.

And if you could read with understanding those articles dealt with cases that were initially Covid and were changed.

Neat. Cherry picking small errors doesnt change what i said. He said " Are they still making every death as Covid even if there’s no relation". They were not doing that. Furthermore, overall, we are undercounting by significant amounts

Kinda tough being you these days isn't. Bet you were giddy when the NFL testing results showed multiple positives only to be deflated when every one was a false positive. Cases are down, deaths are down, sports of all kinds were played over the weekend so I understand why you are cranky and resorting to name calling. MLB, NBA, Indy500, Tennis, PGA are playing, NFL training camps, fall camps for college football. Man it must be tough to be you.

See how having a discussion does not need name calling!

Ah yes, this **** again. Anyone speaking the truth and not being in denial or engaging in conspiracy theories claiming that the death tolls are being fabricated is 'cheering it on'. You said the same thing when cases started skyrocketing after the premature reopening this summer and the death tolls followed. You were wrong then. You've been wrong all along. And you never learn.

Frankly, the behavior you and others like you have engaged in collectively that has put us where we are at as a country is far more offensive than 'name-calling'.
