Wigginton declaring for NBA Draft, not hiring agent

NBA does draft on potential, and LW is flat-out dripping with it.

That said, my heart and my brain both tell me we see him back in Ames next year.

He blows up for us next year, putting up Trae Young-caliber numbers, which he could do, we could be looking at a lottery guy in the 2019 draft.

Lets say Wigginton does hire an agent, and gets drafted late first round. Sure it sucks for next year, but it is also another thing Prohm can sell to recruits and gets another ISU guy in the NBA, and ISU guy that's drafted in the first round.

It's also the "risk" of recruiting these types of players. Anyone who thought he was staying 3 or 4 years were kidding themselves. It was always hope for two years and the rest is gravy. Like you said, it sucks for next year but it can also help with recruits.

Sign me up for more top 30 players even if it means losing them after a year or two.

He's not going to put up Trae Young numbers. We don't want him putting up Trae Young numbers. If Wiggintons usage rate is anywhere near as high as Trae Youngs next year ISU is in trouble.

This. Trae Young had nobody else to take the pressure off him. I'm comfortable in stating that would not be the case with Wigginton next year.

It was already too high for how inefficient he was.

You mean when Wigginton grabbed his arm to clear it out of the way?
He did initiate contact but there was no grab. I'm talking about after that when the defender follows through and smacks Wigg in the chest. Maybe a no-call sometimes but not when the offensive player is knocked backwards and comes down like that. The officials are supposed to protect the players.

The follow through probably doesn't hit Lindell like that if he doesnt initiate the contact.

An offensive player using his off arm to create space in the air could be called almost every time a drive happens no-a-days, but it is rarely ever called by officials.

Shielding a guy's arm to prevent him from blocking your shot at the rim is a little different than guys creating space.

using your arm in any way to displace a player, or give yourself a positional advantage whether in control or out of it and whether the defender is in legal guarding position or not can be called as a player control foul. There is a block, PCF, or charge that can be called on almost every drive play in basketball today, it just is what it is. But if it were called on every play we would hate the game of basketball.

I agree with you. My original point in all of this is that it was a good no call. For those that think it should have been an and 1 there is argument to be made for an offensive foul.

That is fair, and I'm fine with the no call. But I get the and one side, like I said originally it could be called all the time and it never is. But when you see someone go up and fall in a way that they are unable to even brace their fall, it's surprising that no call's made.
