Wigginton declaring for NBA Draft, not hiring agent

This year, men's basketball student-athletes wishing to retain their eligibility must withdraw from the NBA draft by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, April 10. This applies only to underclassmen who already have declared for the draft. The NBA's deadline for student-athletes to enter the draft is April 29.

That is good to know. Much better. When is the combine?

You sure? That's not matching up with the league's website.

Maybe they've changed the dates from 2017 to 2018.

I thought we were going to have a relaxing off-season.

Now we've got NBA rumors about Wigginton and this Memphis thing for THT.

Blum has apparently tweeted that if he gets a combine invite that he’ll likely stay in the draft. And he thinks the combine invite will come. The actual tweet is less direct than this, but it seems like his usual inside info.

Blum usually seems to have inside info and tends to have the job of softening the blow for fans (he was the one telling everyone that Fred was leaving).

Therefore, I think Wigginton is gone.
That is nowhere near what I said. I do think he'll get an invite, 67 got one last year. From there, I think he will show well. Still a long stretch to be a guaranteed first round pick. I'd say chances of him being back are still quite high.

Bought a home blood pressure monitor on Amazon this weekend. Just checked my BP after a three mile run and it was 110/73. I should recheck it after I pursue more of this thread.

He isn't really small. He is listed at 6'2". That's the same height a lottery picks Trey Young and Collin Sexton. It's also the same height as other likely selected PGs Trevon Duval, Jalen Brunson, Devonte Graham and Jevon Carter, and taller than Aaron Holiday and Joel Berry.

In terms of PGs in the league, Kyrie goes at 6'3", Steph goes at 6' 3", CP3 goes at 6' 0", Mike Conley goes 6' 1", Kyle Lowrey goes 6' 0", Damien Lillard goes 6'3". Not saying he's as good as any of these guys, but at 6' 2" I don't think you can say he's too small.

Plus he is thick as well. Another guy who is 6 3 is Russell Westbrook

I would say that's balanced out by the fact that a coach can up and leave whenever they want with no penalty, but if a player decides to transfer they have to sit out and burn a year of eligibility. I'm all for players having even a shred of control. Not only that, but this doesn't really give any team a leg up since any P5 team worth a damn is going through the same process with a couple of their players. It adds to the uncertainty, but if it affects everyone it isn't that big a deal.

Ehhh....most players don't have to burn a year of eligibility. They have to sit out but so many players transfer, I've got to think they don't care about that.

Lets say Wigginton does hire an agent, and gets drafted late first round. Sure it sucks for next year, but it is also another thing Prohm can sell to recruits and gets another ISU guy in the NBA, and ISU guy that's drafted in the first round.

He's probably got one of the highest verts of all the possible guards testing the draft waters. Above average strength. His quickness and speed are pretty average for a combo guard I would say.

Ball handling/decision making are good but certainly not something that separates him from the rest of the class. Monte excelled at these and in my opinion was the primary reason he was drafted.

His shooting, statistically, is just okay. Shot 40.1% from three, 41.4% from 2 and 66% from the line. The three point percentage is above average, but 41.4% from 2 is a bit concerning (I would attest this to shooting a lot of mid-range shots vs. attacking the basket), and his FT% is average for a guard.

Defensively I thought he was solid this past year. I think he can guard a few different positions with his strength and athleticism, and is something he could hang his hat on for future NBA prospects.

Given what he can do athletically and the times where he completely took over certain portions of games this year, he could get a late second round grade, but as a lot of you have said I would think he's encouraged to improve his shooting, FT% and his quickness in college for another year. If he does those things, sky's the limit.

Balling handling and decision making are below average at this point. If he fixes those, he’ll be elite.

Yeah I think Lindell has a long way to go to be attractive to an NBA team. The rest of those guys who are 6'3 have crazy handles. Lindell does not have that. He has skills of a player in the nba who normally is 6'6 or 6'7. So he has so much to develop. Can he do it? Yes but he has a long way to go to get to the Kyrie or Russ levels.
Questionable NBA material now, but certainly could make good money in Europe and still get plenty of exposure for NBA scouts. Seems like a good option. Big concern is where his heart is going forward if still at ISU.
