Who ever the is person in charge of working with the offense should be fired on the spot

He's not a great shooter but he's good enough to start. He just may never be the offensive player we'd like him to be. This is where recruiting comes in. As long as he doesn't turn the ball over I'm not concerned.
Evidently you like the other team with 5 guys guarding our 4 guys!
Worked real well for every team that did this to us just think the Tx Tech game where Lipsey kept turning the ball over when Tech PRESSED HIM!

Time outs to stop the bleeding/runs are something I'd like to see improve especially this season when ISU was prone to losing their minds if a team jumped on them.

Otherwise he came into the worst situation since Johnny arrived and getting two tournament teams any old way it happens is a great start. At least Fred walked in with Christopherson and Garrett. And his 2nd season had some very nice talent that looking back, underachieved.

TJ may fade after a few years or not sustain things, who knows. Until then, right now there's a foundation which was much needed and is much needed in the current climate.

The 'no adjustments' thing keeps coming up..does switching from man to zone and trying small ball etc. count in that discussion or are people expecting the players to turn into completely different athletes that are able to do more?

I was watching ISU/KU at Hilton from 2000 today in my youtube rabbit hole and you want to see a team that could do a whole bunch, holy cow. Larry struck gold there.
Actually Larry Eustasy did not STRIKE GOLD...HE WAS GIVEN GOLD BY Tim Floyd!!

That was one of a few times Tamin actually looked like a freshman this year. He was a very nice freshman PG who also has a lot to work on offensively.

Larry was given gold there is no doubt about it. He deserves full credit for assembling and coaching the best basketball team in Iowa State history.

Personal demons unfortunately got the best of him. Perhaps things could have been different if the Elite 8 game went differently. It still could have all turned out the same way with a different timeline. We will never know.

Coach Otz manages to assemble a little consistent offensive firepower and we may see something like we saw in 99-01. Hopefully this time it can be more enduring.

Did anyone else used to get John Walter's and Larry mixed up with each other? The two could be brothers

Larry Eustachy brought in Tinsley, Horton, and Nurse.

He was also pretty adept an managing within the game. As far as defense, X's an O's, etc he's probably (along with Floyd) the best coach we've had.

It would have been interesting, had he avoided the demons and stuck around, how long his fiery schtick would have lasted (in attracting recruits). That was about the last era of players that remotely tolerated that kind of stuff.

I think it is as simple as that. The loss of a healthy Grill changed our season for the worse. With his deep threat, you can't pack your defense in like Pitt. You have to extend it and that allows us better spacing. Gives room for more dribble drive and opens up better shots for Holmes and Gabe as well as opportunities for the inside guys. I think we would have won 3 more games with a healthy Grill and probably we would have been playing in Des Moines.

I was furious about our offensive performance against Pitt. That was pathetic beyond belief. I get it that sometimes teams have poor shooting nights, but that performance was off the charts bad, for any team. I felt the team came out tight, tentative and scared and were not in the right mental space to start the game. That game aside, it is important to keep in mind, TJ did a phenomenal job of putting together a roster to win this year but he lost a couple of important pieces in Green, Williams, and after Jan 17th Grill.
The following is a lame excuse but that doesn't make it untrue. The way the pregame went with the basket issue and ISU sitting watching while the other team warmed up as normal on the other end of the floor is a recipe for just this. An NCAA tournament game is already a strange experience nothing like the rest of the season. Throw in another huge wrench right before tip off with no opportunity to dial in your shot and it is teeing up a horrible shooting night for your team.

Offensively, Hoiberg could X and O as well as anybody.

In 2023 CBB rosters can be overhauled in an offseason via the transfer portal. TJ has done a phenomenal job so far but lets not act like it's not his fault he doesn't have any shooters when he's the guy putting the roster together.

You are not wrong but he had one of the best shooters in the conference until he got hurt then subsequently went crazy.

The TRANSFER PORTAL & MONEY rules these days...Whomever has the most money (think texas) rules the game...I noticed poor Kansas without Bill Self is just another run of the mill mbb team!!
