TJ isn’t a defensive coach and I think that needs to be pointed out. He completely adjusted his own mindset and style of play to give his teams success these last two years.

Exactly. And I’m not not blaming TJ or the staff either. They weren’t perfect this year and need to get better too. I’d love to see TJ be better in games with using his timeouts as I think he’s not very good at that.
A lot of the other stuff in my mind, as far as negatives of Coach, would be the rosters he’s put together so far. BUT that’s not a fair criticism due to the absolute **** storm he walked into and the fact that even though his rosters haven’t been great, he’s taken them to two tournaments. I’m incredibly excited for what the future entails and I hope others are too while at the same time understanding that we are not going to win every game. I firmly believe we’ll make an Elite 8 or better, and that we’ll win a regular season conference championship. I also know that we’ll likely lose in the first round again. I’m just going to enjoy the ride.
You're right about his record but it was probably the most fun time of ISU BB the expectations were nil, and everything wasn't analyzed to death. Still my favorite coach at ISU by far.
Well you have to skip Ejim's 1st couple of years where every game there were multiple complaints of his stone hands. People on CF love to bag on underclassmen they think they will never improve.
There would be a lot of unemployed posters here if their bosses held them to the same standards they expect of ISU athletes. It's a good thing most of our posters aren't coaches.

Time outs to stop the bleeding/runs are something I'd like to see improve especially this season when ISU was prone to losing their minds if a team jumped on them.
Otherwise he came into the worst situation since Johnny arrived and getting two tournament teams any old way it happens is a great start. At least Fred walked in with Christopherson and Garrett. And his 2nd season had some very nice talent that looking back, underachieved.
TJ may fade after a few years or not sustain things, who knows. Until then, right now there's a foundation which was much needed and is much needed in the current climate.
The 'no adjustments' thing keeps coming up..does switching from man to zone and trying small ball etc. count in that discussion or are people expecting the players to turn into completely different athletes that are able to do more?
I was watching ISU/KU at Hilton from 2000 today in my youtube rabbit hole and you want to see a team that could do a whole bunch, holy cow. Larry struck gold there.
Our offense could be painful to watch when shots weren't falling. We had a lot of 4-5 minute stretches where we couldn't score.
But I feel TJ made compromises to win games. Slowing the game down to limit possessions. And he was completely rebuilding the roster mainly through the portal. And the portal is like a box of chocolates- never quite know what your getting.
Next year will be TJ's litmus test. We'll have 7 guys TJ recruited out of HS plus Ward, Jones, King and Williams will be multiple year transfers. If ISU is going to be a top 10-15 team we need to be elite on defense and above average on offense.
A couple announcer comments stuck with me during the tournament. During ISU's game Spanarkel commented and I'm paraphrasing "the Cyclones have a lot of movement, but not much purpose". During Xavier game today announcer mentioned Sean Miller watched Arizona practices last season to study Tommy Lloyd's half court offense and emphasis on spacing. Feel like TJ needs to do the same, study the best. We lacked offensive skill players, but our half court sets struggled to get open shots for jump shooters.

You show up after losses putting down TJ. I have always supported TJ as Coach. Before we hired Prohm. Your posts on this thread show your true colors. Murray State is on direct spiral to a dumpster fire. Prohm is a terrible Coach.
Prohm actually did just fine this year considering he had exactly 1 scholarship player when he took the job and they made a massive step up in leagues but you do you...
