Carmel corn > kettle corn > popcorn

All fine choices but there's always a hierarchy

It seems like this can be situational.

Like, if im at a movie, just give me the regular popcorn with butter.

If i'm buying a tin of popcorn for a more 'treat-like' food, I probably want caramel (or french vanilla)

I'd agree with that. Similarly, I would eat carmel corn at a holiday gathering, for example, but not regular popcorn.

Homemade popcorn with yellow corn kernels is superior to all others. Adding a couple pats of frozen (Irish) butter when the oil is hot = buttery popcorn without the greasy mess.
Why all the hate for kettlecorn? Salty & Sweet with a fraction of the time and mess of making caramelcorn.

We used to grow the strawberry red popcorn. It has smaller kernels and smaller ears so less yield but a very tasty variety.

No.

I'm going to blow your mind, but as someone who came from a family that grew their own popcorn, red popcorn blows both out of the water.

We grew white, yellow and red.
Keep talking... where would one find that

I would guess directly from someone who grows specialty popcorns. We used to sell it locally but that was 40+ years ago.

I tried firing up the google machine and I could only find seeds so you can grow your own. I suppose you could pop the seed corn but I wouldn't recommend it. And it would be more expensive.

Recently I've been into the Hy-Vee caramel corn, originally started getting it since it is a 20 cent fuel saver.

So if I read this correctly generally movie theater popcorn and the popcorns with heavy coatings are generally the yellow popcorn as they hold up better. Yellow it is then.

I'm genuinely curious what brand(s) people like to pop. I've come to enjoy Noble which I try to buy when I'm back in the state since their shipping prices are ridiculous. Used to like Fit-Pop but the last couple bags haven't popped well for me.
