While I agree with your point that young people make stupid mistakes; my bigger concern is the parents who let their kids bet using their accounts or assisted in trying to cover up for the mistakes. I get trying to protect your kids. Sometimes that means making them be accountable for their actions. Assisting in your kids breaking the law or covering up the infractions and trying to obstruct the investigation is not a good example.

Singleton will be getting reps at nose.
Again- interior D line will be fine. Dekkers & Brock should be winning this poll by a landslide followed by Hanika. Those were our proven returning playmakers and now we have virtually nothing. Jalen Noel & Easton Dean have been underwhelming and now we’ll have to rely on them. Offensive line is the only position group featuring veteran experience on that side of the ball. We need a miracle, Clanton.
If Dean is healthy and not playing QB, he will be TE #1. I think that Moore should explode this year and put up Koler-type numbers. Losing any OL isn't good for Iowa State. Even if we have experienced lineman Clanton, we need a major miracle.
Dean isn’t seeing any snaps at QB. He will likely be TE #1 but will not sniff Kolar’s numbers, as those were top in the nation for two years. Clanton doesn’t need a miracle either, we just need guys to not suck. He’s the type of coach to help that not happen.
That were part of the veteran core last year that won 1 conference game. We are not talking about a team that sniffed the upper half of the conference. Could be a couple of those RS seniors were part of the problem. Given their actions.
This teams potential still rests with O-Line play and discipline.

Personally, I think we have quality players at each of these positions. My concern is more about lack of depth due to each of them being gone. I have a reserved confidence about this season. I think we will surprise a few teams.
Yeah, obviously Singleton is second string NG. But you need a rotation at NG and there’s nothing after those two guys.
I also think the offense will be ok. Better than last year, which doesn’t require a miracle.
Isaiah Lee was forced into action as a true freshman and performed admirably against #6 West Virginia. Rasheed knows what he's doing. He'll find a rotational piece.
I wish I shared your optimism with the offense. New coordinator, new offensive line coach, new wide receivers coach, new running backs coach, new quarterback, and and underwhelming batch of returning play-makers. The time is now for the offensive line. That unit can't use youth or lack of size as an excuse.
I don’t think underwhelming will describe Higgins for very long. Or Brahmer.
I think Jaylin Noel is really going to step up this year. Sophomore slump last year for sure but he's going to bounce back.
Jirehl is the biggest loss. He had bell cow, All Big-12 potential. The offense was never good last year but it completely changed our season when he went down and we were unable to run the ball. Gotta hope getting the freshmen who had to step in last year some experience helps going forward.
Lee a clear 2nd for me. Dom Orange has all the talent to be impactful but things looked a lot better when we had a proven 5th year starter there backed by the talented sophomore.
Hanika would of been a nice receiving target for our young QB's but I like the talent in the TE room.

That team was a few kicks/game winning catches dropped from winning 6 or 7 games and had the best defense in the league. I'm not going to pretend that that was a horrible squad. it wasn't. the ball doesn't bounce your way sometimes. outside of the iowa game, the ball bounced away from ISU the entire season.
Merely stating the accusations and reports that have come out is hardly burning people at the stake. You're stance implies that until 100% of everyone's actions are out and in the public knowledge (this will never happen) then nobody should speak about what is going on.

A lot of "**** these players" attitudes out there despite the fact none of these players have sniffed any trouble in their 4 years at ISU. many of them on the academic all big 12 team and lee wore the special jersey to honor curtis bray for being exemplary. yeah, they all seem to have ****** up big time. That doesn't make anyone a monster.
I give Deckers a hard time but if he was indeed QB1, then I always worry when I hear a coach say our next 3 would split playing time if the season started today.

Dekkers is the biggest loss. Fooling yourself if you want to think otherwise.

Your record says who you are. There are reasons some teams lose close games all the time in a given season. And it's not always because the ball did not bounce their way.

There's truth here but the 2020 season looks pretty good because Texas was Texas, one win Baylor threw a late pick and Covid weirdness went ISU's way including their Fiesta Bowl opponent.
We've seen REALLY bad at ISU and last season was far from it.
