JEREMIAH GEORGE. Our most complete linebacker and he's been on campus less than a month. :notworthy:
Jeremiah George and Donnie Jennert. Donnie might just be too talented to keep off the field. Hes got great hands and uses his body well on blocking out corners. Hes a well rounded WR. Only a RS Freshman, but looks damn good as of now.
Going to have to keep working to edge out Knott/Klein...
Jennert still needs to live in the weight room.
It looks like we have some decent depth at a few positions this year (finally), but I think that our success this year relies on us getting a decent upfield push out of our front 4. I think that makes Rony Nelson our most important newcomer. If he can be the guy who lives in the opponent's backfield, that really allows our defense to attack rather than react to the offense. If Nelson is a no-show or doesn't contribute, we're probably in a bit of trouble defensively.
George will start climbing to the top with his ability in the weight room, leadership, and work ethic. Over time, he'll be right there competing with Benton, Klein, and Knott. Klein and Knott don't have alot of experience either, but they are studs.
I would actually be shocked if O'Connell doesnt start. Hes a Sr leader on this football team. I wouldn't be surprised if he's a captain either. The coaches have spoken volumes about his leadership and command of the defense. One of those quarterbacks on the D.

I think people are underestimating Chris Young's value in Herman's spread. He wants to throw the underneath routes to the slot receivers. Right now Young, Gary, West, and Lenz are really the only slot receivers ISU has.
The plan was for Jon Caspers, the Juco OL, to redshirt. It was something he wanted to do. With Hicks questionable and Haughton gone, who knows now.

I am going with Albert Gary as the impact guy on offense. He is an example of a great pick up late in the recruiting process, which is where teams like ISU need to thrive. He is a blazer, with tons of talent who would have been at Auburn had he made the grades. Keep him eligible, and he should be very good.
The only disappoinment for me in the newcomers is the fact that Cqualin Hubert will be suiting up for TTU and not us. A third legitmate LB prospect with All Big 12 potential would have been great for us. We need Mike Moore from Dallas Skyline to pick us and staunch the wound from that decomittment. Start using that phone, James White!

Jennert is up to where Blythe was his Junior year. Donnie could gain more weight, but is fine.
Sorry I meant Juco DL recruits.... I hope I am wrong but I hardly think Nelson career will be no wher close to the level of these 3...

He was intially undersized a bit for DT, recruited as a DE but spent
a year in the weight room. He go really sick last year from what I heard. But through spring practice he is our best DT, which is a big feat considering the PT players
that are returning from last year, Rump, AA, Black...
Jennert was very impressive at the spring game. I know that doesn't always mean a lot, but to me, I find it hard to share your belief unless you have some inside info. He is the guy that I was most excited about in his class.
It just seems to me that the staff is going a different direction with their WR recruiting. They want guys that can make someone miss. Their outside guys need to either be burners or guys that can block for the bubble screen or both...neither of these are Jennert's strong point. I could see them using Donnie in jump ball situations (third and long or red zone), but I have a hard time seeing where he fits in outside of that.
We have been recruiting a lot of slot receivers. Might have something to do with us having guys like Secrick Johnson and Jenhart already who are more outside guys.
