So it appears if you take out OU and TX.... ISU has the 3rd most viewership of the remaining Big 12 teams. That's not too shabby folks.......

Yeah, people need to get over this self-hating ISU has nothing to offer attitude. In the last full season, 2019, ISU was 21st in the nation in avg. home attendance, and compared to everyone above them, was probably the most capacity limited. And keep in mind that was during a 7-6 season.

The college sports world is moving quickly to reward and value teams that have fan bases that will pay for content and proactively seek it out, because that's going to be how it works in the future. There are too many media options to rely on people sitting down, flipping on the TV and stumbling on your game and leaving it there.

The other schools and conferences don't give a crap if you have a good donor base or not. They care if your team will bring eyeballs to the screen, because they're sharing media dollars, not donations.

Now we should care that we don't have a good donor base, but that wouldn't negatively impact others in a conference.

Can the Big 12 officially or legally kick out OU and Texas from the conference before the upcoming season? I think it would be cool to kick them out now and prevent them from playing any of the remaining 8 Big 12 schools. I would trade the ~$70M exit fee if the remaining conference teams took this route. It would definitely undercut OU's title aspirations.

How demoralizing to read AAC fans read how they should add OSU and ISU since the AAC is stronger to them now

They can say whatever they want.

I think the AAC offers a lot, but when you look at the 2 conferences side by side, it's clear that the remaining Big 12 teams offer significantly more.

AAC............... Big 12
Houston........ Baylor
SMU.............. Texas Tech
Tulsa............ TCU
Tulane........... Ok State
Memphis........K-State
USF................ KU
UCF............... ISU
Cincinnati..... West Virginia
E. Carolina.
Navy.
Temple.

Doesn't that hurt those current teams financially though?

Doesn't mean a thing but thought it interesting an Ohio St beat writer chose us and WVa as the best possible additions.

Hard to argue. The AAU thing is pretty overblown, at least not strong enough to really overcome the smell of putting in a terrible football brand with KU who is 18-99 over the past decade. Also, our old nemesis E. Gordon Gee is the president at WVU.

Last round of realignment was all about cable tv footprint. It was all about how many potential viewers were in the markets to increase potential eyeballs for the TV contracts. In this world we bring the same cable footprints as Iowa and so no additional revenue. Where as Rutgers brought the Big10 all of New York.

The future is going to be about specific fanbases seeking out and paying directly for the content of their teams. In this new world, with a passionate fanbase willing to spend money on their fandom we bring quite a bit more than Rutgers.

Right now we are between these things with streaming services and and various non-cable options. Plus cable with a diminishing customer base.

Whether the Big10 is interested really depends how they are looking at things. If they are still thinking the old way we don't get considered. If they are more forward looking maybe we do.

Do away with conferences across the board for football. Form 64 to 80 power league (whatever you want to call it). Take football out of title 9, base title 9 on all other men's sports/women's sports. Conference only for other sports like basketball etc... ISU already part of "conference" for wrestling. Big 10 does same for lacrosse.

Baylor: AAC
Iowa State: Big Ten
Kansas: Big Ten
Kansas State: Mountain West
Oklahoma State: Pac-12
TCU: Pac-12
Texas Tech: AAC
West Virginia: ACC
I would assume the Texas schools stick together. So TCU to AAC instead of PAC-12.

K-State will take that spot and go PAC-12 with Oklahoma State.

People are underestimating ISUs draw. We have a top 10 football program that just beat the **** out of Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl and has one of the best young coaches in the country. Superb academics. A bigger school than Iowa and a loyal, rapidly expanding fan base. Great AD and well run athletics program. We instantly upgrade any conference.

Peter, who are the “people” you are talking about? If it doesn’t come from JP - you and everyone else know nothing.

Really? We have one top 10 finish in school history.
