Loess Hills area is beautiful. The Twisted Tail in Beebeetown really did a nice job of renovating that bar.

For me I was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut

The reason I'd go to Council Bluffs was that it was starting point of a trip sampling BBQ (Hog Stop and others) across Iowa that would end up in Des Moines (then Ames for football and sometimes Basketball). Never been to Rocket Tavern but will definitely keep it in mind.

I feel for you man. I was born in Doctor's Hospital, Omaha, NE. It is now a part of Creighton University Hospital. Thank goodness I wasn't raised in NE. My folks made a quick stop to drop me then we went on our way!
