Where was Diallo?

That's an assumption. Had him come here and played the same position as Naz I would agree but I don't think its that easy to just say he would definitely play more.
It is easy to say he would definitely play more when we don't have a big man coming off of our bench.

So they were yelling Free Diallo all those games so he could ride the bench and hold down Self's hair?

Diallo, Vaughn and Harrison Barnes probably cry themselves to sleep every night regretting their choices in life.

Seems like Self does this with his freshmen just about every year. Doesn't give them real mins until mid way through conference season. Slowly works them in.

Did it last year with Alexander but he never got it together. Kind of did it with Wiggins and Embiid as well. Played them much less on the road at the beginning of conference play then at home. Believe it may have been the same narative with Mclemore as well.

Wiggins and Mclemore were starters from the first game of the season. Embiid was starting by the beginning of conference play.Cliff Alexander and Josh Selby were Self's only one and done recruits to never become regular starters.

Diallo's progress has been slowed significantly by the illegibility issues. For the longest time, he couldn't even practice. I expect he'll be starting by the end of the year. If not, then he probably won't be a 1st round pick and should stay another year.

I remember some saying he would start over McKay.
Yeah the people always say "he's not being recruited to sit on the bench." Of course he's being recruited to play but you never know how it will play out. just look at that kid at Kentucky who was supposed to be all world and he sucks balls. Definitive statements about a player who hasn't stepped on campus or played in a D1 game always amuse me.

He would have been a lot more valuable under Fred just because of how we would have pushed the ball with him on the court. He still fits ISU's system better than Kansas'

The guy who ranks "prospects" on CBS Sports has Diallo #10.

Keeping in mind that it's not exactly the same as an NBA draft order, others of interest were:

Hield #25
Monte #43
Shelly Duval #74
Jameel #95
Georges #105

Is it bad that I love it when these Cocky High School Kids go to a major program thinking they are the 2nd coming, and then see no minutes. Knock them down a peg.

It's not like he's been bad when he's out there. He's got a PER of 21.0 right now.

For comparison with our team...

36.0 Burton (holy balls)
27.8 Niang (much better than years previously on efficiency)
23.2 Morris
22.9 McKay

So he's playing at the efficiency level of all-conference players, at least in short bursts. Surprised Self is sitting him considering how their front court is their relatively weak unit.

His offensive rating is around 100, however, and his defensive rating is near 85, so he's got some room to growth and is still a small liability on defense relative to other options.

Do you know Diallo? Is he a cocky kid who thinks he is the 2nd coming?

Pretty broad brush you're painting with there. Some of the kids like the coaches and the exposure and feel they will improve the most practicing with coaches who have a history of developing good players to the NBA and the support system around them to make it more likely.

I'm more surprised, given the preseason hype, that KU is getting zero out of Bragg. He was supposed to be a star this year, instead they are starting Hunter Mickelson and playing Landon Lucas in crunch time.

Diallo is not Wiggins neither is Bragg. Bragg will be back next year(s) for ku...Diallo not sure. Wiggins and Alexander didn't play a lot early in the non conf last year but by conf season Wiggins was full force starting. Diallo won't get more than 10 min a game. He's not a good offensive player right now.

I figured he'd be starting by now....scary that KU is that good without him. We better have our A-game against them.
