Where do the Cyclones go with Brock Purdy?

At one point he completed 12 straight passes so my guess is not many. He went 32/42. That's insane

he’s still not getting drafted bro. Time to bring this program in to the HD era.

Also side note: someone that has contact with the Program tell Dekkers he needs toswitch his number to a single digit for NIL purposes.

I think he gets drafted but that's irrelevant to what he does as a CFB player

Usually your trolling is on point, a real asset to this site. But this one fell flat.

can’t be perfect all the time

Agreed. Let's see what Dekkers can do, now through bowl game. Three games to get some real playing time. Heck of a challenge with the O line we've got. Really looking forward to Saturday in Norman.

Remember when it was THRILL to watch Purdy? His first season was just bananas -- deep bomb after deep bomb. It was can't-miss entertainment and something special -- he regularly looked like a future Heisman contender & NFL star. Absolutely fearless.

Now? It's all gone. We sometimes see a flash of it for a game -- but his best performances are mostly just him hitting his short/medium throws at a high percentage. One could argue the play calling changed. Or the WRs aren't as good. Or the Oline doesn't buy him enough time. Sure, maybe it's some/all of that -- but I personally just don't see that killer instinct from Purdy at all anymore. It used to be a lot more fun, win or lose.

I'm pro-Dekkers because I'm bored (and plus, he's the future). I'm not a coach, and coaches don't base their decisions on if a fan is bored. But I personally would love to see it, because I want a reason to care about the rest of this season -- and care more about giving next season a head start than salvaging this one. This team had their chance. Almost the most returning players in all FBS, our highest pre-season ranking & hype of all time, and it's already been thoroughly choked away. This isn't a young growing team where we can find satisfaction through slow incremental improvements -- it's a senior team who was supposed to win now. But they didn't. Not the biggest deal, it's just a sport! But I'd love to see some radical change, and not sure any change makes more immediate sense than a swap at QB. It's worked for us a hilarious amount of times before.

Put in Dekkers :)

You mean when he could throw it up for Butler?

Purdy said that he was going into this season with the mindset that this would be his "Senior Season" and his last year at ISU. Do you think that's still his plan? I wouldn't imagine his NFL stock is very high right now and he could always come back for one more year to revitalize his NFL interest. Do you think the Cyclones would want him back? Would you?

And where does that leave Dekkers? Has he been hanging around and waiting in the wings with the understand that he would start next year? I have to imagine that it's going to be almost impossible to keep both the guys on the roster this offseason with them being decent transfer targets.

CF, How do I make sense of all of this?
Time for different team. Seen great positives from team 2 when they played. Also excited to see the 2022 class to sign and join campbells team..

They've had similar play calling...Butler could make the catch.

Like that pick to Noel yeterday likely gets caught by Butler.

Btw I liked going to Noel deep. Just didn't hit the spot.

Looking forward to the threads next season lamenting the loss of Purdy!

Huh? Who cares. He didn't get it done. If we're worse, whatever. Big deal. Again, most hyped team in history. Giant under performance compared to last year. What is there to miss?

Sure you might see these threads. But they'll be dumb.

Are you trying to blame me -- or anyone, really -- for hyping a team that was pre-season top 10, coming off a NY6 bowl win, returning almost the most players in all FBS, with a Heisman-contender RB, playing in a down league? We were a few plays shy of being in the freaking playoffs last year.

honestly not that hard to be the most hyped team in ISU history when the rest of the history is pretty much a steaming pile of hot garbage.

last year we had the bounces go out way. Could have just as easily been 7-5. We got a handful of teams with Covid issues and also had a handful of close games. We were on the right side last year, we weren’t this year. It sucks, but if you think we will become some sort of football powerhouse be prepared to be disappointed. I am happy we aren’t a laughingstock like we were under the last half of the Rhoads era and for the majority of the history of the program.

Brock will get feedback from the NFL and make his decision accordingly.

I think he has taken his game as far as he can here. Time to move on to where football is his full time job and can get coaching and work on his skills year around.

Even if he is not NFL ready right now, with his drive and skills and intangibles he could pull a Lazard and find a good spot in the NFL.

Hope he gets drafted, signed as a free agent or at least makes a practice squad.

I still will appreciate everything he has done while he was here.
