When You Win PB or Mega Lottey

At this point I would probably say they should just cap it at 1 billion and when someone wins, have another 1 billion winner.

If you know there is going to be only one winner, you could buy all 292 million combinations for 584 million and still have a couple hundred million left after taxes. If I somehow managed to pull that off, there would be like 3-4 winners and I would be upside down.

I'd cap it at $1B per winning ticket. So if there are multiple winners they'd still split the full amount. A single winner would carry the extra over to the next drawing.

Would that really do anything to protect what you’re trying to protect people from?

This creates more buzz. No motivation to change it.

There has been discussion in the hedge fund space to do this but the risk of having 2-3 winners grows as more number coverage happens with increased participation.

I’m suing Caseys as they sold me a defective product. My tickets didn’t win. If I can get 12 of my fellow CF’rs to sit as jurors. There will be something in it for you.

How would the logistics of it even work? Do they have some way to electronically buy tickets?

Multiple trusts, so many so, that I won’t have to think about who gets / wants money. It’s all settled.

The amount of obscure and absurd people that will hound you, follow you, befriend you can’t be stated enough. Shield the money…. Already spent through those trusts.

Then get the **** away from most everyone.

Not to mention all the other prizes you'd win. You'd have 25 tickets that matched all five minus the powerball for a cool 25 million. Then there's all the smaller prizes you'd win. Probably a few million just in tickets that matched the powerball. Unless all other plays are void if you hit the jackpot.

Did the math. 292000000 combinations divided by 26 powerballs is a little over 11 million. Times that by 4 and you get 44 million.

This. If I won I would plan out where the money is being allocated before cashing in that ticket and as soon as I completed whatever publicity is mandated by the state I would disappear like a fart in the wind.

There was a thread a while back discussing how big lotto winners and their families are at much higher risk of bad things happening to them. Increased drug use, OD’s, lawsuits, kidnappings and murders etc. If you’re actually happy in your current life a windfall like this could be more of a curse than a benefit.

A lot of that is because of who plays the lottery the most. Naturally those that play the most will win more often. But those are also people who arent great with money and are more likely to have people around them who also aren't great with it. I would guess most of these things apply to the 'frequent player' group whether they win or not

You may be correct but the risk certainly gets amplified greatly when everyone knows you’re sitting on a fat stack of cash.

I disagree…. Who has any experience with that amount of money? Basically zero out of 8 billion ppl. The onslaught of requests and ‘popularity’ isn’t something nearly every person on earth has experience with too. Best thing to do is get that money allocated before you share to the world you have it.

I'd be immediately concerned with kidnapping.

Seriously.

I'd have the bulk of it given away within a year.

I was thinking about that too. It’s too easy to figure out where someone lives and moving doesn’t help. Might have to leave the country if you want any real peace.

You're walking away with roughly 600million. You'd be very wealthy obviously but there are areas in the US where you wouldn't stand out quite as much (a good number of celebrities, for example, have net worths of hundreds of millions).
