When do you start to dislike someone

Maybe you should dislike Darien instead because ultimately it was his decision.

I'm not going to start disliking someone off of assumptions*. How do we know who pursued who? It could have very well been a situation where Matt informed him of his move and Darien immediately asked if there would be room for him at St. Johns. I'm not assuming that is how it went but I'm not assuming it didn't either.

*I reserve the right to assume the worst of squawkeyes, kNebraska football and Kansas basketball.

If you asked a number of a posters here, they would root for them over St. John's and Matt A.

Posters like Michael Scott?

When he leaves ISU to coach some damn NBA team I will hate Fred with a white-hot burning rage never before seen on the planet.

Or not.

Not to mention him advising an ISU All Conference, All American player to enter the draft rather than returning to ISU before he leaves. Don't take our players to the NBA, Fred!!!!

Yeah, this is what I'm asking as well. Especially since I'm not ******, just more baffled than anything. I understand the recruitment thing and how you get to know a certain coach, but really, shouldn't a lot of your concern also be the head coach and the program you are committing to as well? I mean if Darien's entire decision to come to ISU was based on Matt A. being here, then in some ways, I'm not as disappointed in losing him.

I would think, as a player, the style of play and demeanor of the head coach would be things you consider, since ultimately, that's who you have to answer to.

Maybe it's my homerism, but it seems, other than Blue-blood programs, or being close to home, why wouldn't you want to play Hoiball?

Matt's a great guy, helped us to new heights, big friend of Fred, just wanted to go back home, etc....at the end of the day he is now recruiting against Iowa State. I have no problem with any of this if he would have not started with a kid that he had previously recruited and signed to play in Ames.

In the business world, this issue with Williams is called a non compete agreement. One would think poaching players fringes on ethics. Coaches do it all the time, but you dont expect it from an assistant coach that left in good standings. Diallo was already discussing St.Johns. what we don't know but highly doubtful is if Hoiberg is wanting bigger fish, and wanted to renig on Williams. If so then completely ethical. But right now, this guy seems like a back stabber, and st.johns should pay us recruiting expenses, no different from the business world. ISU had to release him since we don't want to look like a bunch of jerks to future recruits.

I don't blame Matt for taking the new job. I don't appreciate Williams going with him, but I get it. And guess what . . . TJ is bringing players here too. Should we turn them away?

The Diallo situation is part of the game, but the Darien Williams situation annoys me, a lot. Dude had already committed to Iowa State and decommitted and followed MA to SJU.

I find it hard to believe that he willingly followed MA to SJU without MA saying a word to him about leaving. Cheick hasn't committed to anyone yet, so who cares. I'm dissappointed that we most likely won't get him, but he is 100% uncommitted.

If MA actually told him to follow him, then that's a really sleazy thing to do.

Would like to say I appreciate his previous contributions. Was a huge part of the rebuild.

It would be bad advice to tell a kid to ditch a known quantity, ISU, for a less certain one. That's not being a homer, just reality. Who knows how it turns out but he's taking a risk.

Mullen could do at St. John's what Hoiberg did at ISU or he could do what fellow all time great Drexler did at Houston. Nobody knows, ISU is into solidly known quantity area now under CFH.

Why is it laughable to hate Abdelmassih? People hate Self for much smaller reasons. I for one dislike Abdelmassih more than Self. I'd rather Diallo play at Kansas than St. John's.

The fact people hate, dislike Matt A is laughable and embarrassing to the cyclone fan base.
He's not a Cyclone. Why are we forced to like someone that isn't here? I'm not going to sit around being bitter that he left but I'm definitely not going to root for him either.

I dislike people that don't think about what they're doing and how it impacts other people. Get your slow butt out of the left lane unless you're passing someone!

KU is a safer bet for Diallo than St. John's at this time, just like KU/ISU would have been better choices for Vaughn than going uncoached for a season on a bad team. That's assuming that getting the coaching, preparation and exposure to go to succeed in the NBA is the top priority.

ISU was a safer bet than St Johns for Darien Williams for the same reasons. Again assuming that he cares about basketball success at the highest level he can. Not all players really do.

Just curious. Matt Abdelmassih is starting to annoy me by recruiting our players that are commited i.e Darian Williams. Recruited our big fish that we were trying to get(Diallo) Almost sending him directly to our rivals. I understand the game. Dont get me wrong. He has every right to do it. Other coaches have always done it. However this little dude is starting to annoy me since he is directly going after guys we spent a lot of money recruiting. At what point can i start disliki g this guy. And yes im bitter.
He's got a job to do and he's doing it to the best of his ability. He gave us everything he had while he was here but he works for someone else now and he's doing the same. I don't begrudge him in the slightest.

Not going to sit around being bitter but come off exactly as bitter. Makes sense.
I'm not bitter. He left and that was his choice. Nothing we can do about it. Doesn't mean I'm going to root for him though. I have no reason to. He's not a Cyclone anymore.
