I've always thought they should have John Burnett-Larkins do it. I meant, JBL is already there to do the band announcements, and he's much better at volleyball than some faceless, nameless person (notice we don't even know the identity of who does it now). Much better voice (duh) and probably feel for the game, too.

I thought this as well. I'm pretty sure all of the "Cyclone fans, rise up!" and things like that are recorded as well.

Does anyone remember the original PA announcer from I think when the stadium opened to when Gary Wade took over in the mid-90's? (Wade's high pitched voice is good for basketball but he was terrible for football, IMO.) That guy was great. Great sounding voice, gave you the facts, no more no less and didn't talk during plays. What was his name? Anyone?
