whatever happened with scott haughton?

Yeah, my 180 lb body would do wonders on the OL.

Like i said...I hope Scott takes this and uses it as a force to better himself and get his priorities straight. I would like nothing more than to see him get his grades straight, come back to ISU, and then have a successful NFL career.

What upset me was you commenting on how he could complete summer school and then still have options to make it to the NFL. That completely disregards the efforts the ISU staff/team put in to help him. Completely disregards the time his teammates spent gelling with him. And it was really a post about how Scott will be just fine no matter what happens. No mention of him be sorry he let his team down.

I was trying to point out that when a player fails to take care of their responisbilities in the classroom due to effort, which you admit he did, it not only affects him but it affects the people that were counting on him. It affects the people that put in the time and effort to help him grow. I have no doubt we will have guys step up and replace him but it still doesn't discount the time and efforts that were spent with Scott.

Again, I hope that Scott succeeds in whatever he does. It was your comments that rubbed me the wrong way. They seemed to be only concerned about Scott and how this affects Scott and not everyone around him. If I took those wrong I apologize.

Do you think Coach Rhoads will use a scholarship on a player that has one year of eligibility? Doubt that. If Houghton this this, he's living in a dream world. A lot of 18-22 yr old kids are prone to this. I know I was

it seems that you have the answer to everything ,lets see you get out there and fill his shoes and continue where he left off.

its your comment that rubs me the wrong way also.i agree isu did put a lot of time and effort into him but his grades didnt fall overnight maybe they overlooked somethings until the last minute which probably could have help them kept this good player on the field.the question at hand was whatever happened to scott and thats what i was answering no one asked was he sorry or remorseful for this and a little common sense would let you have a inclination that he is sorry because he did let his teammates and coaches down as well as himself.this pushes him back from pursuing his career as a nfl prospect but i believe everthing will be okay for him and isu have confidence in the team not one guy.it would be the same if he got injured someone would have to replace him

Epstud could probably get a higher gpa. :wideeyed:
but could he fill his shoes on the field or are you just a sideline critic. you dont have to much confidence in his gpa either using the words could probably what about would have a higher gpa after all scott's was pretty low.

And thats on him, not the school or staff. There are a lot of things that are done for student athletes, the fact that he let his grades slip goes on him shoulders only. He overlooked those things, not the staff or school.

but if i knew my player was failing and he was a very essential need to the team considering where we came from to where we are at and all the seniors we lost last year,i would have stepped in and did what i could to keep from losing him like i said i dont believe his grades fell over night and CPR sat him on the bench last spring to get focused they could have tried that again.

Okay so basically CPR should go to class with him? It's his fault, and his fault only that he is no longer on the squad. He should have realized that after his first time with his grades slipping, he should realize hmm maybe put his *** into gear. I find it rather funny you basically want him to be spoon fed by the school and staff, when they basically are already. Maybe the staff felt that a 19 year old could react responsibly and become an adult and work harder if they had already had a talk about his grades being an issue. Its pathetic that players and that you are trying to say that the school and staff needed to do more. Maybe scott should have gone out and found more outlets for help? Like meeting with professors, attending SI sessions, and getting more help from tutors..... or maybe actually hitting the books at Hixson-Lied for study hours....

But it sure does suck losing a player of his caliber because of the lack responsibility. I still remember the time on the bus he kept pulling the cord to annoy the bus driver.. Funny moment

i didn't say CPR should have went to class with him because i do believe CPR did his best but from my experience of being an assistant coach we do what we have to do to help our guys on the field and off.not saying we do the work for them but there is no way considering isu 09 winnings (WE) would not have did what we had to keep him eligible.again not doing it for him but assisting him in getting it done.if they already had a talk with him about his grades, maybe he has a learning disability such as adhd or something which makes him lose interest very fast mentally which is he concentration part in the class and maybe he is a good player because adhd people are very energetic and very playful so this fellow could have some underlying med. condition plus some laziness and i know he's probably sad, remorseful, embarrassed and ashamed of the huge let down he has caused to so many people.

Did we ever actually hear what the actual situation is with Haughton?

I don't think it was ever confirmed if the situation was:

A) He has been completely/permanently removed from the team with no chance of returning

or

B) He is "suspended indefinitely" until he gets his GPA back to "eligible" status, and if he does he can/will return to the team at that time.

Does anybody know for sure?
