What Do You Hate About Our State?

Being called "The ****eye State" :arghh:

The only real thing I hate about Iowa is that we are 49th in % of public use land. This makes it more challenging to enjoy your outdoor pursuits, specifically hunting and fishing for me. I'm not saying it can't be done, just not nearly as many options as all of our neighboring states.

Oh, I guess I also hate the price of our ground. It is turning what's left of our natural habitat into a giant garden. I understand farming and business, but I also understand conservation and being good stewards for future generations. my blood boils when I see creek bottoms and fence rows torn up for a couple more rows of corn. I am not anti-farming, but there must be a happy medium. Fire away at me if you disagree, but I will stand my ground.

Couldn't agree more. There are still, however, areas of Iowa where pasture, timber and hayfields outnumber corn/beans/hog confinements. If I ever win the lottery, or somehow become really rich, I'm going to buy a huge a@@ farm and turn it all into habitat and plant a gazillion trees. Just to **** people off. :twitcy:

Also, the lack of tuition reciprocity with any other state....its almost as if the state of Iowa doesn't want its students to look outside the state for its educational pursuits...A way to keep its students in-state for college...

Its more that we know we make a ******** off of MN and IL students and we can't afford to lose those dollars. Otherwise the state would need to pump a lot more into the universities, something theyve been pretty stingy with.

Those of you complaining about the wind would love Kansas, Oklahoma, and west Texas.

Although I would agree it seems like it gets worse here every year (or I'm getting old).

I used to hate this state, now that I'm becoming a professional I can see myself ending up here...but more importantly what doe I hate about this state HAWKEYE FANS!
