There's a system? The whole system starting with the ineffective NCAA needs to blow up.
That is a great question and I'd like to know the answer as well. I love Iowa State in general, but I don't avidly follow much outside of mens and womens basketball and football. Wouldn't want my money going to the softball team, no offense.Does We Will let you earmark for a specific sport? I know they support athletes from many sports but I would prefer my donation to be used to support a specific one. Can I direct my donation that way?
Probably a @brentblum question.
This could work for people wanting to donate specifically to the biggest revenue sports or for people wanting to donate specifically to the lesser revenue sports (which deserve a lot more financial support). But then maybe The Collective is more for ensuring we keep our best athletes for the biggest revenue sports so that more money can be made there. And then later on money can be donated directly to the athletic department to support all the sports.Does We Will let you earmark for a specific sport? Okay, let's look at this for a second. If you give lets say $1,000 (pick a number). You can say I want it specifically for football (pick a sport), will you ever be able to follow it? Unless you donate something like 1 million for a smaller attended sport like softball, it will just come out in the wash. You say I want my 1k to go to MBB, and they have already lined up 50k in MBB work, well, they just shift 1k of that 50 already lined up to a different sport. So your 1k seems to have went to MBB, but it honestly was the next funds in and they helped the swimming and diving team with it. 6 in hand, half a dozen in the other. That is a great question and I'd like to know the answer as well. I love Iowa State in general, but I don't avidly follow much outside of mens and womens basketball and football. Wouldn't want my money going to the softball team, no offense.

Yeah, don’t do that.Donate to the basketball program where we actually have a microscopic chance of winning a national title vs football where we have 0 chance of winning a Natty.

Ironically, softball (and other non-revs) are probably the sports where NIL as it "ought" to be will actually happen. Whether it's some cute influencer/infielder pushing high-end clothes and making huge $$, or just Tammy from Boone getting $500 to hit slow pitch at Karl Chevrolet some afternoon.
It's NOT supposed to be about paying players to stay or go like European soccer contracts, and giving them cash to just show up at whatever made up crap satisfies the letter of the rules. But of course that's where it is.
That is correct, but like I mentioned in another post, if you aren't donating a large sum, it will be hard to say that your 1k donation is not part of the 20k that went to such and such basketball player.I was under the impression that if a donee makes a restricted contribution to any not for profit that not for profit has to abide by the restriction. It doesn't matter if the not for profit wants to or not.

I know, I'm just saying that if someone wants to know that their dollars helped to boost overall MBB lets say, it will be harder to quantify since there will be a lot of people just donate with no restrictions. If they say a MBB player specifically or a MBB to help at big brothers/big sisters, then it would be much easier. I was treasurer of a decent sized non profit ambulance service and learned more than I cared to about that stuff.Their accounting records should be able to segregate and track that.
Hopefully different OL players than we currently haveBrent mentioned on the last podcast that several farmers are selling/donating cattle specifically to go towards ISU's O-line
