We Will Collective contributor numbers

The thing about writing big checks like that to ISU Athletics is that there are usually perks that come with it. Like buildings or physical objects with your name on them or access to premium seating and more. If someone dumped a $10 mil check to We Will what do they have as a benefit that can compete with the AD? And that money essential gets used in the shirt term to pay players that are only here 4 or less years where your name where getting your name on something gets recognized and lasts much longer. It's not a given that much money will even result in a conference championship or natty either so you can see why there is hesitantance with dropping a big $ ammount for NIL when the return/benefit is uncertain.
I hear you and I tend to agree with you. TTU had a guy give $25 million and UT has a collective just for offensive lineman that raised $10 million the first weekend after the SCOTUS ruling. I have not heard of other major gifts, but I am sure there are some. The real answer though lies in the total number of givers. BB has given us a goal.....2000 by December? Talk to your friends. I sent 20 texts out today.

It's stupid and embarrassing that posters here say we don't have wealthy alums. Sounds like people looking for a free ride instead of writing a check.

We’ve had a huge day of new subscribers thanks to outreach like this. It works! Please share, it’s the single best way to get others on board.

This is literally the same for every single school in the country and we’re still getting out-donated. That’s not just an ISU-specific thing so your point makes zero sense to me

I'm sorry but that's incredibly frustrating and frankly ******* stupid for a group to push back because they aren't supportive of NIL. Bring it to the group and do what you can and if you personally don't believe in NIL then don't donate. Out of state alumni groups should be the biggest supporters of the collective since they mostly aren't buying season tickets
Im not shocked. My limited experience w our local group, it was like 3 older couples running it. Not much ambition, and likely leaning to the "back in my day you were happy to get a scholarship!" viewpoint on NIL.
In fairness, that was a while ago, but i could see that the kind of older person with free time to run an alumni assoc, would lean towards disliking NIL.

What did you parlay??
Betting on in state college props isn’t supposed to be allowed in Iowa. For whatever reason there were TD props on FanDuel one night last week (I’ve never seen it before and never seen it since so it had to have been a mistake. I had a $10 free bet and put it on Brahmer to score a TD in the first half, ISU over 19.5 points, ISU ML, and then four other college football outcomes that all ended up hitting. Turned a $10 free bet into $2,172 so I had a nice little weekend

Wtf man. Well done. Every time I try to get college props it never lets me lol

AND these people give to projects, not just the athletic department. Most of our big donors give to the college only as well, don't seem to care about athletics.

The exception is Sukups he actually made a joke about it at Niang Trivia this summer.

Is there hard data on this?

Not doubting. Just curious.

Total athletic or collective donation participants over total number of alumni?
Jamie sent numbers out in the past that I can't find. @brentblum can probably share some data. We do have some generous benefactors for sure that have caught us up with facilities. But we don't have the oil guys that many of our conference mates have. So we need to rely on our numbers.

Fair statements, but the reality is our percentage of givers (fans and graduates), even at $100/year, is pitiful. We are at something like 2.2% when most other peers are at 4-5%. Even without the oil guys, our real issue is we lack on numbers of givers. On this site though, one thing we don't lack in are whiners and complainers. We lead the pack in this category! Lol.

I just want to honestly thank everyone that does give to ISU athletics and to the NIL collective. We can't be successful without all your help.

I'm not in the position financially to give much at all... other than buying ISU gear, going to a game or two a year, and hopefully purchasing some NIL beer in the future (haven't had a chance to try any yet).

So I really do appreciate all of you out there that are able, and do give.

Wonder if one could get access to box seats at ISU games and could auction off the potential to win access to a game…. 6 chances to win every year. $100 for a chance to put your name in the drawing. I don’t know how much renting a box out at trice would be but you might get quite a few people put in $100 for a chance to bring 3 other friends into a box seat and then imbibe on the food and rink during a game.

Great ideas and we’ve certainly tried to engage with alumni associations in some of the bigger cities with Cyclone representation. Unfortunately we’ve gotten some push back from a few of those groups that aren’t supportive of NIL. But hopefully the tide has turned some and people are more receptive now. Will reach out again.
Get Ames Lager to Kelly's. It would rake during game watches. The KC club also sets up a table with merch, I'd bet they'd be open to some We Will items.
