We got any shot at this kid?

He's going to play for Fran without a doubt. I had heard he was really good for a few years, but I thought that just meant state of Iowa good, as in a fringe top 150 recruit, not a 5 star recruit.

And that very well could be what he ends up being.. The top 25 ranking they put out for incoming Highschool sophomores is always a crapshoot. A portion of these kids won't even be 4* recruits by the time there junior or senior year comes around.

Andrew Brommer or Devan Bawinkle was in the top 25 as a freshman in highschool... That's should be all you need to know about these early recruiting rankings....

He was also a freshman in high school. The fact that he was playing speaks volumes. Not defending a hokeye, defending high school basketball.
the dude grew up in a gym and probably never had a part-time job in his life. He should be good....he doesn't do anything else

No. If Fran is still at Iowa, letting Connor come to ISU would cost him his job. If he's not then Connor would probably go with him to the next job, a la the McDermotts.

Ha you would think in the history of dads coaching their sons in college.....that ONE would have daddy issues, hate his dad and purposely go play for the in state rival coach. God would that be funny.

"You never loved me dad!!"

I saw him play a couple times last year. He's obviously a good player to get varsity minutes as a frosh on that loaded IC West team, but I'd have to say I'm shocked to see him rated that high.

Its all name recognition at that point. He'll end up around 130-150 and at a Valley school (or Iowa of course). His skill set is very good, but he doesn't have the explosion and athleticism of an elite recruit. He'll be 3 Star when all is said and done.

Still, he's very good.

Is this the kid with the tumor that was removed around the tournament time?

If true, that had to be one of the all-time worst rankings. Both of those guys should've been playing DIII.

Wasn't Peter Jok considered a top 10 player in his class when he was a freshman?

Damnit, I knew my part time job at a childcare center during high school was holding me back. I coulda been somebody...

Saying something like this with any degree of certainty at this point in a player's career is really unfair to him. I'm sure your scouting report of him had nothing to do with who his father is.

Good for the kid for having impressed scouts this much to date. Even if Fran is still at U of I in 2017, and assuming the kid goes there, it's good for the state to have talented players come through the high school ranks. Where he is rankings-wise by the time he is a senior, who knows, but I'm glad to see talent in the state.

Wow. He literally has 3 years of high school left and you already have him falling from a top-25 recruit to playing at a Valley school? You should start your own recruiting service (I'm kidding, you definitely should not start your own recruiting service).

As an ISU fan I could give 2 craps about how much talent there is in Iowa as long as Fred is getting the recruits he wants elsewhere. Why should we be happy that there is a guaranteed high level (so it seems) recruit for Iowa here in the state?
