WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Stanford's Cameron Brink has hit 72 straight free throws. Four more to set a new NCAA record. She shot 65% as a freshman and 62% as sophomore. Was 85% as a junior. Freshman Brinks would have seemed an unlikely candidate to challenge a free throw record.

Curious as to what the ISU record is. Couldn't find it listed in records or history links. Seem to recall someone a few years ago, maybe Joens, having a streak.

I recall Bridget making 40+ her Jr year maybe??

Good memory!

Enough info that I could look it up. From her ISU bio "....connected on 42-straight free throws, which ranks 18th all-time in the NCAA record book and third all-time in the Big 12."

Sidebar: Ran across this tidbit while doing the Google thing, Fred Hoiberg made 102 straight during the NCAA Div I coaches charity thingie in 2011.

Big 12 roundup 11/20:
  • Oklahoma State loses to Penn State 89-80
  • UCF beats Auburn 60-53
  • Texas Tech beats UTSA 63-58
Other ISU opponents:
  • Butler beat Roosevelt 104-50 and is 3-1
  • Vandy beat Alabama St 88-42 and is 5-0
  • NDSU beat Northern Colorado 67-60 and is 2-2

Might be a #16 Kansas State vs #5 Iowa rematch. If both win their first two in the same Gulf Coast thingie they would meet in the champ game. KSU has a tougher path, will likely play the Lexi #18 North Carolina team.

Same stupid FloHoops TV or I'd check out the KSU game vs two ranked teams. Good test to see how good KSU is. KSU is one of the tough opponents we are scheduled to play twice.

Pac 12 has 3 of top 4 and 5 of the top 10. Just like football in wbb the conference is going out as we currently know it as brutally good.

Big 12 roundup 11/23:
  • Cincinnati loses to #3 Colorado 77-60
  • Texas beats Arizona State 84-42
  • West Virginia beats George Washington 54-51
  • TCU beats UTEP 85-56
  • UCF beats Jackson State 63-54
  • Oklahoma loses to Princeton 77-63
    • Aubrey was OU's leading scorer with 13 pts
In non-Big 12 news:
  • Indiana won @Tennessee 71-57
  • Washington State beat Maryland 87-67
    • This is Maryland's 3rd loss by 20 or more pts this year.

Does it spell trouble with Freese? IIRC her program had mass transfer last season or two ago?

Not just that, lost two seniors that were 1st round WNBA draft choices from last years starting five. They were still picked as 4th in the Big Ten but are obviously struggling early. I liked watching their high scoring style but don't mind seeing some other teams in the Big Ten get their time in the limelight. It wasn't as bad as Baylor winning the Big 12 every year but was in the same category.

Edit: ESPN has her 2024 class at #15 but that's 5th in the expanded Big 10 for 2024. ESPN has them at #11 for their 2023 class.
