Some WBB insiders speak on their current pick for the 2024 National WBB Champs:

We're unanimous on the Gamecocks. Nobody else is quite as Sharpie-worthy, but LSU seems a good bet, too. UCLA is the best program in women's basketball to not reach the NCAA Final Four -- the Bruins won the 1978 AIAW title -- and that millstone remains until it happens. This could be the year.

Drama at the aTm vs LSU game. TAMU coach literally chased down a ref & got a technical (her complaint was valid imo) as her players physically held her back. Now an Aggie player is injured (looks pretty bad) on a "basketball play". Ambulance crew taking her off court/MJ Johnson

Mulkey is wearing a jacket that is embroidered with "Queen of the Court" (insert: puke emoji)

Emily Durr watch: Fun to see one of my favorite WBB players now on the bench as
Assistant Coach/Director of Recruiting Operations at Illinois. Four ref calls had The Fighting Illini losing points and possession in the last two minutes before halftime. Nebbie couldn't capitalize as Illinois closed to 29-30 at halftime. Go Em beat the Nebraskagolians!

At the half, I saw Em hug and laugh with one of her players. Seems like she's loving it there and following in her Father's love of coaching.

Nothing too impressive by Nebbie or ILL in this game. Lots of missed bunnies, odd turnovers, slow-mo sluggish transitions, and dumb fouls. If you like yoga pants well Nebbie's coach had a fire engine red "Yoga Top" on. Nebbie has 2-3 Aussies on their nearly all caucasian team. Final Neb 56-48 ILL.

Anyone else notice that Kim has worn a jacket with "Queen of the court" written on the back? So humble...

Today‘s WV vs UCF game will be interesting. UCF assistant, Mike Carey, and Head Coach Messer, former Baylor assistant under Mulky, know the press well. Should have many ways to beat.

UCF is 0-4 for a reason. I did watch the 1st half. Knights are on pace to turn it over 30 times. UCF doesn't have the game/players to employ the Texas beat them up inside approach although they are keeping it close. WVU has had to attempt only 9 threes as opposed to not being able to get anything but threes versus Texas and ISU. After watching the last 10 quarters of WVU ball I am not very impressed. They are okay but see them as maybe middle of the pack when league play is done.

Watched the first half of Iowa vs Indiana. Indy really missed an opportunity as Iowa was stone cold for most of the half. CC could not hit anything from outside.

I give UI credit, they had other players step up when CC was cold. I didn’t not even realize that Davis for them was a player. They looked like more of a team tonight than they have in the past.

Big 12 round-up:

Houston beat TCU 77-66 and becomes the first new kid to beat a member of the old guard.
K-State beats Texas 61-58
WVU beats UCF 76-59
Oklahoma beats Texas Tech 73-55
BYU beats Cincinnati 68-58 for their first Big 12 win
Kansas beats Oklahoma State 70-64

Looked at box score and they shot 13-23 from three after the first quarter. They are better when Marshall and Martin and others are contributing and Clark is only shooting 21 times (like tonight) and not 30 or more (unless she's crazy hot or something). When the other gals are bombing in threes and making layups off of Clark assists they can maybe beat anyone but the other gals need to be more consistent.

After watching Iowa vs. Indiana, I realized how DOWN the Big 10 is. It’s not great at all. Outside of V Tech, Iowa’s biggest wins might be 2 Big 12 opponents- K State & us.

More reason for Iowa to get bounced early in the tournament!

Sort of rivals wishful thinking there. Of course any team can get bumped early. Both Iowa and ISU were Elite Eight level a couple of years ago and Creighton bumped us both and took that Elite Eight slot. I happens every year. Also the opposite does to, SEC and east coast fans were all grumping last year that LSU was overrated and didn't play the tough schedule their fav teams did and all LSU did was win it all. They also grumped that the runner-up, Iowa was overrated until they beat SC.

Indiana was NET #12 before the game and was expected to give Iowa all it could handle. Was one of those games where Iowa was crazy hot from three and the other gals were contributing a lot of scoring. Maybe Iowa's best game of the year? They could get bumped again like 2022 or be Final Four again in 2024. It's why they play the games.

BTW, Big Ten has seven teams in the NET top 35, Big 12 has four. I don't think the Big Ten is as strong as a couple of years ago but it's a good league. The Big 12 is not that strong either. I think, based on what I see so far, that we have a legit chance to win it.

For the record, KSU actually defeated Iowa in Carver Hawkeye. I was present and it was awesome.

I know I shouldn't, but I like this K State squad and I have since the "core" were freshmen, namely Serena Sundell and the Glenn twins. I don't know how anybody could dislike Ayoka Lee! I'll set it aside when ISU plays them, but there are many similarities between the two teams....
