UW fans hate Oregon's rise. They still think they should win that game 75% of the time.
Of course they hate Oregon's rise, its a rivalry. But their fanbase is relatively rational and not full of idiots. In the last 25 years they've literally lost twice as many games against UO as they've won. Their fans do not expect to beat UO 75% of the time. This claim is nonsense.

Ive never ran into a rational UW fan in my life. They have been the Michigan of the PAC for years.

Might just be coming from this from different interactions with fans as I’ve never experienced that.

We might both have our biases on this one but I’ve never once got that vibe or have seen anything like that from their administration.

And several head coaches in that time.
Not because they were getting 8/9 win seasons, but because they had 0 and 1 win seasons from head coaches. Yeah that’s gonna get you fired.

The other coaches didn’t get fired for average seasons, Sark left for USC, Peterson retired, and neuheisel had a ton of ncaa and legal issues.

They aren’t just firing coaches for putting together 8/9 win seasons. They have realistic expectations.

Sark left because he was going to go 8-4 the next year and get fired anyway. The fan base was sick of him by then anyway.

Hahaha are you serious? He was head coach for 6 seasons, he had 8 or more wins twice, how does that make him an 8-4 coach.

To prove your point even more wrong he was on the staff at UW for 30 freeking years!

This is a stupid take, he left for USC. Yeah I’m sure they were giving him a huge pay raise because he was about to get fired lol, that’s comical.

**edut also yeah they weren’t firing him because they had just signed him to an extension through 2015 but good try

They were a top 25 program most of Lambright's tenure. Sarkisian was a joke there dude. It was pretty clear he was never gonna win the Rose Bowl there and the fans new it. There was a segment of the fanbase that didn't even like Neuheisel.

This is a bad take. He left for USC because he realized he wasn't going to be able to win enough to keep his job at UW. The UW fans were ecstatic USC took him off their hands.

No they weren’t, seriously man. They finished in the top 25 twice during his tenure.

No, they really don't. Fans expect double digit wins every year. Somebody hasn't lived on the West Coast. The Michigan comparison is perfect.

He had just signed a contract extension at UW and had his best season with them (9 wins). Sure some fans are happy but some fans would be happy if CMC left too.

That’s wild when they rarely get double digit win seasons. I’ll agree to disagree since that hasn’t been my experience and the stats don’t match up with that.

They have had 7, 10+ win seasons in 33 years, so yeah that’s not the expectation when you’re only getting that result 20% of the time.
Michigan & OSU fans etc expect national titles every year. They have a much lower than 20% national title rate. Getting a 10 win season and expecting them aren’t exactly correlated. Fans aren’t normally rational.

Know this is about Campbell, but DeBoer seems like a weird fit at Bama. SoDak native who's spent his entire career in the Midwest and West Coast.

But, he's also an outstanding coach, so he'll probably do well.
Certainly culturally, especially with Bama fans. I wonder what will be going thru his head when Bubba Billy Bob comes into his office with a 5 star kid and hands the kid the keys to a Lambroghini?

Like I said earlier in this thread, unless you live out West, spend time there, or know some UW alum people don't realize how high expectations are there. Michigan has historically never really been a national championship contender either but they have that expectation. 9-3 is Michigan football historically.

Where did anyone say anything about national title percentage or expectations?

So how did CMC end up on the list considering he does not have an agent?

Look at those lists as they spit them out. They're just lists of coaches who've had some success at conferences outside the Big 2.
Same way the same lists immediately after Saban retired were just the coaches of teams from the top 10. It's not reporting, just spitballing on the fly.
