Wagoner commits to TOE

Seems like a good recruit but not as highly recruited as he once was but still a really good recruit. I think though that Linderbaum will end up the highest rated instate recruit when all is said and done.

Good late pick up for Iowa.

We don’t have a lot of room left, but he may have been worth it. It’s always hard to know with lineman.

Yeah, that's what's weird about it. Defensive linemen are always a precious commodity in recruiting because there just aren't many good ones out there. From what I'm gathering ISU didn't really have him as a top priority, so I wonder if there was some red flag that scared them off. I just feel like they would have fought harder to land him if they really believed he'd eventually be a significant contributor.

No red flags with Waggoner, he just didn't progress as expected and they moved him down their boards and filled up his position.

I heard he did not look explosive anymore and a lot of schools cooled on him. One of my Hawk buddies (that follows their recruiting hard) said he thinks they may switch him to OLine
False. Plenty of high profile schools were still after him in the last week. Its been pretty obvious since the summer that Iowa was going to be the school for him.

Imo he is good enough to take back when we had 20 open scholarships. But when you only have a few left, there are just guys we like or need more.

Lol, you’re not familiar with recruiting, are you?

Everything I heard was he was waiting on certain offer/s and those fell through. He waited too long and other schools filled up or cooled off with him, even Iowa for a bit, and when Iowa "reofferred" he grabbed it.

Yep. That doesn’t mean other schools completely stopped recruiting him, but he became a backup plan for most P5s.

Backup plans can workout. Good luck to the kid playing for Bryan Ferentz.

Like hoping to take the head cheerleader to Prom. A week before Prom you realize that she is not accepting your offer so you ask the girl in your physics class that said she isn't going because no one has asked her yet.

Yeah, could be. Good luck to him at any rate. When I read the DM Register's feature about Sam Ingoli a while back the Wagoner family came across as some pretty good people.
