Don't be dense. You can't see the difference? A guy on Tinder looking to hookup with a female who has a V. The guy wasn't on Tinder looking to hookup with a female who had a P. He was mislead, intentional or not, we will never know, but he was mislead.

I suspect that if this were a lesbian woman who had this happen to her the debate around whether or not the victim was in the wrong by any measure would be far different.
The victim was in the wrong, period. He was also murdered and the killer should be punished to the full extent of the law. Both of these things can be true and it's not needed to tell people how "accepting" you are by announcing how the victim did nothing wrong. Also, when you're confronted with being wrong, it's not useful nor is it a compelling argument to keep saying "That doesn't mean he had the right to kill him" even though literally zero people here have taken that position.

A straight guy thinking he is hooking up with a female who has all natural female organs and then getting mad when he finds out she has a male organ doesn't make him anti gay/trans/etc. It makes him a straight guy who wanted only straight sex with a natural organed woman and was catfished.
Not being dense. Just puzzled by some of the reactions here. I understand that this may have been a case of catfishing where the victim was using photos of another woman and concealing their identity...so lying about who they are, which is wrong.
But if this was a trans woman, how are they lying? It's just their body and how they look.
That's the tuff part but if they are actively trying to hookup with a hetrosexual guy who is thinking he is hooking up with a hetrosexual woman that is the problem. Because they are intentionally misleading the person.
If I'm talking to a girl on tinder and then she tells me "yeah I'm a girl but I have a P instead of a V". I'd be polite and tell her I'm not into that and not looking for that. That doesn't make me anti gay/trans/etc., it makes me someone who isn't into that.
My understanding of the events is that the deceased is a man, created a fake tinder profile using pictures of a woman, and managed to provide oral sex to the killer without the killer knowing the deceased was a guy.
That's different than the deceased creating a tinder profile using pictures of himself as a woman. Using the fake pictures of the woman is pulling the bait-and-switch, and is different, in my mind, than the killer having buyer's remorse if he finds out his tinder match was a man that he thought was a lady.
I could have the facts wrong, of course. Also, the killer shouldn't have gone The Mountain v. Red Viper on him.

I'm a conservative Christian but I believe we should all be sympathetic to the victim in this case and not only for being brutally murdered. I'm sure he (or however he identified himself) was having a tough time of it in a culture with so many confusing and contradictory messages. Any choice he made was wrong for one reason or another.

Were the pictures on the profile a random girl or pictures of the deceased?
Was the deceased a gay man or a trans woman?
While no set of facts make the death okay, if the profile was not pictures of the deceased and the deceased was a gay/bi man looking to trick straight men into having sex with him, two crimes took place which might ultimately decrease the outcome of the second crime from murder II to some form of manslaughter. If someone has sexually assaulted you (or is attempting to), you're not justified to take the course of action that the accused did, but there is potential for some reduction in charges based on state of mind.

Not calling you anti-trans and I agree there should be some level of conversation beforehand. I guess I'm calling out the longstanding stereotype of trans women going around intentionally tricking straight guys into sleeping with them, which is patently false. Trans women are actually some of the most vulnerable people in our society because of these kinds of stereotypes.
It is much more common, in fact, for trans women to be lured into dangerous situations by straight guys who assault and murder them. It's one of the reasons trans people aren't always upfront about their identity because they are frequently targeted.
It's not scary if someone steals your car either. That doesn't mean it's not wrong or illegal does it?
So you agree with what he initially said, yet you argue with him, why? Just so you can't take the imaginary moral high ground?
