Vikings fans...

Unless one of Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, Justin Jefferson, or Henry Ruggs III are available at 22. I think this is a great draft to wait on a WR. This team needs help along the DL, needs 2+ corners and at least 2 starters on the OL.

Dream scenario for me is they get a great corner and LT in the first rounds.

Keep in mind we have two really high level pass catching TE's back in Smith and Rudy. Thielan is a freak (when healthy) who can run great routes and stretch the field. They love Bisi Johnson as well. This team has to get better at blocking and will only be successful with Dalvin and Mattison carrying a heavy load

Also. if a guy like K'Lavon Chaisson falls to 22 or 25. I'd love to snatch up another LSU Edge rusher
I’d be on board with this plan. I might go earlier to get O line help though than you’re suggesting.

Thought Sendejo might be back but he's going to the Browns for $2.5M for one year.

Generally agree with your approach - get an OT early, trade to get more 2nds/3rds. I'd just like to see a DL in those rounds too, instead of a 2nd WR or CB. While I'd like to see a future QB, like you've done (Hurts would be my preference), there's no way the Vikings will do that. Unfortunately, they seem committed to have a babysitter as the back-up, rather than developing a QB of the future. It's worked out so well for them so far... that and their poor OLs have been their achilles heel(s).

Btw, why would selecting Becton have been rated so poorly?

I really wanted a couple DT's that were picked before my selections. In the real draft, Rick probably trades up to grab them. Also have heard rumors that we may be going to a 3-3-5 base.

Becton is not viewed favorably in PFF's model. But if the Vikings pass on a starting LT.. Fans will loose their minds.

I'd love to see them go Edge and Tackle with those first two picks. If a guy like Chaisson is there, I think you have to consider it. If they could somehow land Kinlaw, I'd be ecstatic, but that is not likely without a trade. He's not an edge, but the guy would be so disruptive on the dline. I think he's going to end up being one of the stars in this class.

Agree - gotta fortify the lines early in the draft, this year and in most years. Then branch out to other positions. I'm afraid Vikes are going to reach for CBs and WRs early, which hasn't boded well. If a guy they think is a star at CB or WR (not reach like Williamson or Treadwell... like Lamb or Jeudy) is there at 22, that would be my exception.

I'd love to see LSU WR Jefferson, Clemson CB Terrell, and USC T Jackson be the Vikes first three picks. Trade up to get Jackson.

I agree with the need for WR talent to replace Diggs'. But Holly he'll have the Vikes been awful at drafting WR's in round 1

No doubt. Busts as high as #7 at WR hurt for years. But with two first round WR busts in recent years, the Vikes have the law of averages on their side. Chris Carter is extremely high on Jefferson and I hope he's still there at 22.

I think I like this better

Only thing I didn't get in the draft was an edge rusher to replace Everson Griffen. But I think Zim can develop some later round guys

The Cam Akers pick means you can do multiple RB sets on offense where Dalvin can flourish as a receiver

1/3 of my first 10 picks are for OL. That would be a dream for this Viking fan

I can't imagine they're going to take a running back in the first three rounds. They already have Cook, Mattison was a 3rd round pick a year ago, who they like, and they just re-signed Abdullah, who also is a returner. Adding a guy like Akers really crowds things. Even if they cut Abdullah, that's still three guys who will be expecting to get the ball. Not enough touches to go around.

I agree. But Dalvin is due for a new contract after the coming season... Dalvin also needs to be used more in the slot and screen games going forward. That leaves a lot of carries on the table

It does, but when they go to those sets, it's going to be Cook, in the slot, Mattison at RB, and don't forget about CJ Ham who they also just signed to a multi year extension. Not to mention that they have Irv Smith and Rudolph who they want to get on the field at the same time. I'm sorry, I don't see how adding another mouth to feed at the RB position makes any sense, given the roster. There are way too many needs at other positions to spend a 3rd round pick on a running back.
