Update on David Montgomery status

It's bad enough that DM's punishment is justified even though it's totally atypical of him. Had a co-worker passively label him a thug today due to coverage--is that fair to DM?

Ok angry guy. There isn’t anyone getting a bad rap. Hawk fans are even complimenting. Chill out sensitive sally.the only folks that are calling us bad actors is the bailiff bears.

The co-worker labeling DM as a thug isn't a Baylor fan.

The guy didn't even throw an actual punch, it was a p*ssy slap to the side of the helmet. Montgomery had his fists clenched before that and was ready to go. He should have not retaliated, but athletes don't think that way. It's dumb to risk breaking your hand hitting someone in the helmet, but that punch he threw looked like it would have done some damage if landed in someone's face.

"Punches" is a relative term when a guy is wearing a helmet and facemask, too.

Have been is a situation where punches have been thrown at me, a lot of the reaction is pure instinct. Ive only ever been in 1 fight in my and didn’t throw the first punch. Hell I never knew I had it in me to throw them back but I did.

It’s a split second reaction whether you have a helmet or not, the fight or flight instinct kicks in and with men it’s usually the fight instincts.

I am familiar, but you still have to overcome it.

If I may relate two stories, both from high school...

-- One time, a bully came up behind me and put me in a choke-hold... And I swung the back of my head back at his face and broke his nose.

I did not think to do it. It was just pure instinct, like you said. Next thing I really remember after swinging was being on the ground after he tossed me down.

-- Another time, somebody came up behind me and sucker punched me in the back of head behind my ear. I had a part in a small prank on him -- nothing heinous or truly embarrassing, only momentarily inconvenient in that teenage way -- and that was his "payback."

Took every ounce of self-control that I had not to turn around and just deck him as hard as I could. It was a punk move and while I was not a talented athlete, I at least did some sports in high school and participated in weight training, so the theater nerd who hit me was not going to last all that long. But I held it back. He got an Gunnery Sergeant Hartman profanity-laden chewing from me instead, but I did not lay a finger on him.

I was prouder of myself for the second than the first.

I know it is hard, but you have to do it.

Zero percent chance its overturned with game @ Texas. Im sure the Texas president called the head of the big 12 officials:
"Hey, Joe Bob, What time are we pulling out the boat this Sunday?"
"I got the beer iced down, i'm guessing around seven or so."
"Oh, by the way, Iowa State may appeal the suspension of their star running back..."
"Already on it. We've suspended him for the entire game to send a message that fighting will not be tolerated in the Big 12."
Chuckles. "Thanks Joe Bob. I'll make sure Lil Joe bob gets nothing but A's next semester."

I spent a few minutes browsing there this morning. I've been to some dark corners of the Internet and seen some weird/disgusting things in my life. But that place is one of the worst.

I never had an especially high opinion of Baylor Fans anyways, but I rank them below Hawkeye and Husker fans in my book. :confused:
