UNLV Comments

Completely unacceptable, we are trying to build a respectable team and that does not help the fact. It made us and the Big 12 look bad.

Really? How many people do you think actually saw that hit? The game was broadcast on the MTN network. There were 25,000 people at the game. I really don't think many people throughout the nation even saw the hit. And I'll bet that 90% of people that are not a fan of either team said "big deal" or, "man, what a hit" after it. I think we all need to move on from this...

One of our most beloved players (according to most) is probably one of the worst at this in the NFL. Ellis Hobbs goes Gramatica every time he makes a play, and he's idolized as one of the best, if not, the best cornerback in ISU history. It's not necessarily a bad thing to celebrate a good play. Some guys feed off of it. It's quite another when it's done to taunt a player, or when the play results in the injury of another...

Ellis' behavior in the NFL has been embarrasing. I don't remember him acting that way at ISU.

You know we have read about LJ and what he did, UNLV fans and taunting, fights and other stuff.

i feel all you have to do is go back 2 years and you will see where alot of this started. UNLV has had a problem with ISU since that day.

YouTube - UNLV FB Coach Melts Down After Loss to Iowa State (ISU)

watch the video and then maybe the UNLV paper will reconsider who is classless. A college coach yelling at his team to not leave the field and then riling them up to a point where they were out on our logo slamming helmets and stomping their feet.

that is top notch class if you ask me.

I am glad it is over and our team played their tails off in the second half. let's move forward and finish this season strong.

Sorry, I bit my tongue during the week leading up to the game, when this video was posted over and over again. If it wasn't apparent before the game that ISU fans are more hung up on the 2006 game than UNLV, it is painfully obvious now.

This video is as played-out as Lambo Doors.

We have a winner for the day! The game is over. while many of you think this was the worst thing to ever happen to ISU and LJ needs to be kicked off the team (new worst thing to ever happen...PERIOD!), move on. there were many other situations in this game that caused us to lose. while you find disgrace in it, i find hope.
This is the kind of attitude ISU has lacked since i started watching them. the aggressive nature to play balls to the wall on all plays. if you have ever played a sport, you know that sometimes your emotion and aggresive attutide gets the better of you on plays and it has cost you, in one way or other ( and if you cant own to this statement then you didnt play with HEART).
Its a new week the game is over now, move on! I am sure the stairs at the Jack are getting a fair share of feetsteps today and possible tomorrow too, but its time to move on. i have avoided coming to this site more then i normally do because of all the ******** you have made about this play. its time to think about KU and packing the Jack to show the team and recruits that are going to be there, that we love this team and school through thick and thin.

I don't think we should be only upset about LJs two personal fouls, but what about the numerous other unsportmanlikes ISU has had this year. The UNLV game alone we had what? 4 or 5 cheap shots on them to maybe 2 for UNLV?

The one thing I noticed as has been previously stated is the numerous times of "taunting" after a hit by UNLV. If the guy from Washington is getting a 15 yard penalty for throwing a ball after tying the game why doesn't some idiot get a 15 yard penalty get a 15 yard penalty for pounding his chest like a gorrillia after a play. Or jumping around in players faces after tackles.

I would think that if I was an official I would be wondering why some of the extra curricular stuff is happening. There were a lot of cheap shots happening all night from both sides. Yeah coaches say don't retaliate, but people my age playing college football may not be thinking the same as all these mature people on the board.

LJs hit was a bad decision by him, but that's part of the game and him learning. People have done much worse than this and still are around or stayed around.

Personally I had a great time in Vegas, but I would prefer to never play them again. It just seems the last 2 time we have played them there has a been a lot of stupid stuff happening. How about a trip to play Arizona or ASU, maybe even a Stanford or someone like that. At least a loss to those teams would seem respectable and fans would still be able to go.

Just another stupid opinion...

Illuminating perspective, I thank you for it. Saturday night was business as usual, then (don't condone it, but at least some of us here now understand that such behavior is the norm and not ISU-specific).

DefendtheStreak, were you at the game? I was not, and like many others here, I'm deeply troubled about Leonard Johnson's late hit in the end zone on your QB. That's NOT Cyclone-style football.

Streak, looking at the YouTube video of LJ's late hit, I wonder if he might not have been aware that he was in the end zone but rather thought he was on the field of play and was knocking your QB out of bounds fairly.

Watching the video, he's running directly to the sidelines, and his head is turned up field toward the QB. I wonder if the kid did not lose sight of how deep he was on the field.

Do you have an opinion about this? What did you read and hear post-game about it?

Thanks much. And, from myself to you, an ISU fan to a UNLV fan, I apologize to you that one of mine did that to one of yours.

(Craziest fan behavior I've witnessed: Colorado State-Wyoming football games. I lived in Ft. Collins during one season, and loved the brand of football out there. Wide open. The Rams were 9-2 that year. A couple of years later, there was a bench-clearing brawl between the two teams . . . before the opening kickoff. And that's only one example of many illustrating the animosity existing between these two teams and their fans. Something else. . . .)

Sorry for getting back so late.

Yes, I was at the game, but in the far corner away from the play. About as far as you can get, but I did Tivo the game and watched the hit on replay about a dozen times.

My take: Not that big of a deal, and had he not got flagged 4 minutes before it's a non issue. Honestly, what caused me more concern was Sanford was on the field. Again. Not just on the field, but on your sideline acting like someone just stole his car. I couldn't believe he was out there. I could feel this messagebaord lighting up.

Our papers had nothing on to say, the talking heads on the radio glossed over it, and there is a little buzz on our boards. Nothing like over here.

CSU and Wyoming DO NOT like each other. Period. That game is called the boarder war for a reason. The MWC has some good football, and with the advent of the MTN network I now can follow all the teams. Not just when we play them, but when they play their rivals too. It sucks we lose some national exposure, but I get every game UNLV plays in both basketball and football. Not many conferences can say that. Plus we don't play nurse maid to ESPN and that alone is worth it.

Casey Flair has no room to talk about personal fouls. That guy is the king of the PF. The staff must have threatened him to within an inch of his life because this season he seems to be under control, but the last two seasons...forget about it. He was good for at least two a game and ALWAYS, ALWAYS at the wrong time.

There is no doubt that Flair was in the young DB's ear that whole drive.
