UNI to drop baseball

That's kind of my whole point. Football skews things out of proportion and is why I think Title IX is flawed. There ISN'T as sport comparable for women to football.

It has nothing to do with them being less of an athlete, if you can come up with a sport for women that takes that many people to field a team, more power to you.

I'm saying make it if you offer 7 varsity sports for men, you have to offer 7 varsity sports for women.

And you didn't answer my question. Why is it fair not to let men swim? compete in gymnastics? play soccer or tennis? I just think you get much closer to equality if you balanced the number of sports offered, OR balanced scholarships if you exempted football.

It's fair not to let them compete because ISU told them they aren't a priority, football is. Plain and simple: those types of sports aren't important to the admin.

haha... you talk about feminism like it's a bad thing. I read a book once that refered to feminism as the "f-word" because it has such a negative connotation with close-minded, Midwestern, sister-loving hillbillies like you. If feminist equals equality, I'm a feminist. Stop being so close-minded. Get an education.

Nothing wrong with feminism. It's neo-feminists like yourself that **** me off. I'm 100% for equality.

LOL @ "midwester, sister-loving hillbillies", methinks I touched a nerve there. Go back to California, hippie.

Football should be. Without football, your daughter doesn't have to worry about sports period because they'd all be cut.

If it wasn't for football or basketball, neither ISU (or Iowa) would have any womens sports period. Football is the engine that drives the bus when it comes to any athletic dept.

And his point is that the football program - in no way, shape, or form - would take away from your daughters ability to get a scholly. Rhoads giving a scholly to a 3rd string punter doesn't take one away from Bill Fenelly - they're 2 seperate entities.

Exactly. Say you offered 7 sports for men and 7 sports for women.

Fine, go ahead and balance the # of schollies for the first 6 sports. You're left with one more women's sport of your choice and football.
Assuming the 7th women's sport has 12-15 schollies, yeah you're going to end up with an extra 60 for men after you add in the 85 from football.

That doesn't seem like that bad a thing to me, and I don't see where that takes away from women's opportunities.

But why blame this on women?

What if you had a daughter who wanted to play collegiate athletics but she couldn't because the third string punter needed a scholly?

I'm just as pissed (probably more) than anyone about this. I went crazy when I heard the news, but please don't jump to conclusions and blame it on Title IX. If we do, shouldn't we just take women's right to vote away, too? Come on, if they don't deserve equal rights on the athletic field, why should they have suffrage?

NOBODY is blaming this on women! We're blaming Title IX and the ridiculous way it's set up.

haha... hit a nerve? haha... You think names like hippie and feminist are insults. Get some perspective.

Perspective:

It's ok for women to have more sports than men,

but it's not ok for men to have more scholarships?

Number of scholarships should be equal. This puts all the blame on the admin. If the admin chooses football over men's tennis, so beit.

I feel bad for them. I genuinely do. To have a father who hates his daughters so much is a truly sad thing. Love your daughters, be pro-Tiltle IX.

That is way on called for. You are a ******* ******* for saying that. I just realize that because of FB my daughters may get a chance to play college sports, not because of some stupid law. I am so pissed right no you would say that about my daughters. What a ******* ******* you are. If you were here I would beat the **** out of you.

And apparently you think being from the midwest and being an Iowan are the same as being an inbred redneck. Like I've said, there's nothing wrong with feminism in its true form - equality. Neo-feminism, however, is more than just equality, it's about "sticking it to the man" and gaining power over men. It's about making things so fair, that they are no longer fair.

Taking athletic programs away from men based on the percentage of a gender at a school is ridiculous. What's next? Are we going to have single-gender restrooms in public places? Oh wait, we do.

Here's the deal. When men get fair custody rules in divorce cases, I'll agree with your stance. When men get the same amount of paternity leave as mothers get maternity leave, I'll agree with you. When men can accuse a woman of 1st degree rape, I'll agree with you.

Like I said, neo-feminism isn't about equality, it's about revenge on the all-evil man. Feminism is wonderful, but there's a difference between that and what you're preaching.

And for the record, I hate hippies.

Please re-read this.

I'm going to leave the WBC out of this so it doesn't get sent to the cave, but do you realize how moronic that statement is?

I have a solution. Let's make Iowa State only accept only 25% of each class of incoming freshmen as women so 75% of the scholarships can go to men. That'll really **** off creightonclone.
