UNI Game: 11 am Kickoff on FS1

You know, that might be the best way to keep Cyclones.TV in business if they have no game content.

That would be hard to do across different platforms unless somebody was clever enough to offer an easy way to advance/delay the radio feed from the ISU guys.

I think Cyclones.TV has to be safe given it carries so many men's basketball games.

I'd wager that if Iowa State is 2-0 heading into ULM. FS1 or Fox Midwest pick-up that as well and we miss cyclones.tv for the entire football season!!

Loose to Iowa and it's a different story
FSN Midwest is not owned by Fox any longer. They are owned by Sinclair. I am not sure how that impacts whether games can still be on there or not.

Maybe not. Didn't 3rd tier game rights change this year? As long as we're ranked, I think this game will be on FS1 too.

ISU is not on that deal until next year. Forget the exact teams, but I believe 5 or 6 of the 8 teams (Tex, OU not included in the deal) start this year, ISU and 1 or 2 others don't start til 2020/21.

As I understand it, the tier 3 rights change is moving content from individual networks to ESPN+. So, not sure, but I believe each of the 8 teams will have a game on ESPN+ instead of Cyclones.tv, etc. You may be right though.... if ISU is ranked, would ESPN want it on ESPN+ or ESPN/ABC? Not sure if that was spelled out, but I did not see anything about an option for ESPN to move content between the networks (ESPN+, ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, etc.). I think ESPN wants to push viewership / subscriptions for ESPN+, so, wouldn't be surprised if they kept all they can there.... even when a team is ranked.

Not necessarily a guarantee. Still TBD. This game has good chance of being national TV as well.

Don't think that's how this works... from my understanding...

Tier 3 Rights: Texas gets one conf football game on LHN, everyone else gets 1 non-conf game on their own network. So, we only sold 11 of our 12 games to the networks. The networks pick their 11 games, we get the last one for CTV.

So, we automatically (for one more year) have one game on CTV. Next year one game will be on ESPN+. The networks decided they wanted UNI v. ULM... that was really the decision. It is not that the networks only want 11 games per year, it's just that's how many they get based on the contract. The B12 teams wanted to keep some content with the goal of building individual university networks...

I am not aware of any option to put the 12th game on a network and I believe we were in some kind of an agreement for CTV that meant we had to keep our games there for one more season instead of jumping to ESPN+ immediately. So, I would be very surprised if there is an option to move the game to a national network (Fox or ESPN).

Can't we pick the Kansas game to play on Cy TV?

From the 2012 press release detailing the changes that included the addition of the MIRFG (emphasis added):

http://www.big12sports.com/ViewArti...0410&ATCLID=205680799&SPID=13138&SPSID=106137
"Big 12 schools will have the option to retain rights to one conference-controlled football game per season for distribution via permitted member institution outlets and third-party licensees, or can return the retained game back to FOX for broadcast."

ESPN will own the tier 3 rights but they won't get to pick their games until Fox and FS1 have selected the tier 1 and 2 rights. Long story short there won't that many conference games played on the ESPN+ platform. For basketball games ESPN+ will completely replace CylonesTV.

We there goes the all day drinking lol.
You are naysaying but I am like Ed Harris as Gene Kranz in Apollo 13.

"With all due respect, sir, I believe this is going to be our finest hour."
