Just a PSA. I saw something recently about this website and had a couple unclaimed balances hanging out. I don’t think a lot of people know this is out there but every state has one. I found one for me in Iowa and Illinois.

I looked at the Minnesota site and found several for my neighbors. They have a threshold of above or below $250 on the Minneosta site. One neighbor family has two above $250 and one below $250. That could be some significant dough...

It's extremely easy to complete the claim.. my wife did one a couple weeks ago. Takes maybe 2 minutes to fill out their form and a check came in the mail literally 2 days later.

I hope the State of Iowa is earning some interest on the ~350 million. I guess not if they may need to release it at anytime. Regardless it could be managed.

Where this comes in handy is if you've ever been the executor for the settlement of an estate. I found $1200 in a paypal account several years after I settled the estate of a family member. It took a bit of back and forth with paperwork, but $1200 was worth it.

I found <$100 from MCI/Worldcom for our business. The address listed however, was our location from 1991-1993. Too bad there's no interest!
