UConn -6.5 over ISU

Per ESPN:

2. UConn has QB issues. That may have been obvious going into the game, considering the Huskies planned on playing three quarterbacks. But it is even more glaring now that they had such an anemic performance in the pass game in a 24-21 loss to Vanderbilt. Johnny McEntee ended up playing a majority of the game, throwing three interceptions and losing a fumble. He had for just 99 yards passing in the entire game. Coach Paul Pasqualoni said he stuck with McEntee for continuity, but there was no offense. The Huskies failed to score a touchdown on offense. In fact, UConn the last time the Huskies scored an offensive touchdown against an FBS opponent was in the fourth quarter against Cincinnati on Nov. 27, 2010.

After reading some of this... I feel more confident. Still not sure if we can get the same team to show up next weekend for four quarters.

For now, I think we'll get the victory but it won't be easy. 24-20 ISU.

Yikes. Sounds like UConn has no QB. Their RB is decent with 27 carries for 118 yards against Vandy. ISU always matches up better with power running teams, so hopefully we can stop their offense and get some TO.

Our offense protecting the ball will be the key.

So they run out of necessity. Looks like they'll get a healthy dose of Matt "the Butcher" Tau'o'f'ou. I was really impressed how he played the run against Iowa.

I have a very hard time believing the UConn defense is better than Iowa's. And their defensive coordinator is certainly not as good as norm parker.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're better than Iowa. About half of Iowa's 2010 defense was in NFL camps this year. And even UCONN isn't better, they probably match up better with our team. I'm not expecting our offense to look like the UNI game again, but it'll be closer to the UNI game than Iowa.

UConn hasn't looked good. If this were a home game I'd say we have it easy.

But keep in mind we're on a short week, playing a game way out on the east coast, after a big rivalry home win. I think CPR will do his best to have the guys ready but they might be tired. This feels like a trap game to me but I'll pick the Cyclones. The -6.5 spread is mostly to get people to bite on this game.

Those are my thoughts and concerns, too.

I feel fairly certain that we're better than UConn. At the same time, the timing and short week are major concerns.

I'll be more confident about the game as the week goes on, since that happens every time. Right now, I'm quietly confident, but aware that this could be a major trap game.

Now I'm going to be worrying about this game all week. So much for school.
