Tyrese Hunter PG '21 - Committed!

Seems like quality content.

Iowa is the favorite to land the shooting guard but Nebraska has recently been stepping up its efforts to put themselves in the conversation.

Iowa favorites to land Hunter

Iowa has been recruiting Hunter for two years now, and has even forged strong relationships with his family.

I was just reading Corey Evans latest 3 pt play. No specific mention of Hunter but he does talk about the PG class in general and emphisizes the importance of getting one of the Top PG of '21 in the ISU fold.

"Two weeks ago, we forecasted the potential dominoes that could fall as a result of predicted commitments from
Angelo Brizzi, Rahsool Diggins and Stevie Mitchell. Now that Mitchell is off the board to Marquette, and once Jalen Warley commits on Sunday afternoon, 22 of the top 35 point guards in the 2021 class will have already found their college homes for next fall. This is crazy to think about since it is just the middle of August and already programs have been forced to find alternatives for their alternatives.
Maybe, it is a matter of waiting things out and testing the transfer market, one that should be ripe for the taking in the spring with the potential one-transfer rule going into effect.
Either way, this is the earliest that I can recall the point guard market being so decimated, which could lead to major reaches and tough decisions by needy coaching staffs across America."

Three-Point Play: • Will there be a college season? We broach potential ideas. • Kok Yat makes the leap into the 2021 class with no shortage of a suitors. • Point guard options begin to dwindle which could lead to reaches & poor evals. @MidwestHoopsSL Tyrese Hunter is just on a different level. The Iowa St. commit is near impossible to stop once he gets headed to the basket. Great quickness and moves plus the bouncy G is a big time finisher at the rim. #NY2LAGrassrootsShowdown

@ny2lasports Iowa State bound 2021 PG Tyrese Hunter and 2021 G/F Patrick Baldwin Jr. set the tone early defensively and offensively for TH-2021 in a dominant evening win tonight #NY2LAGrassrootsShowdown

FYI.
2021 COMMIT OF THE WEEK: Tyrese Hunter to Iowa State
"I’ve reached the point with Steve Prohm that I trust he knows what he’s doing with point guards. He had terrific success with the position at Murray State with guys like Isaiah Canaan, and that has carried over to his Iowa State tenure, most recently with Tyrese Haliburton, who is a projected top 10 pick in the upcoming draft. So, when I saw Tyrese Hunter choose Iowa State on Tuesday, I trust he made a really good college decision.
I can see why Prohm and so many other schools recruited Hunter. He’s certainly on the small side, but I really like his game. He plays under control, can score it, and he possesses the most important trait for a point guard these days: He plays ball screens really well. He’s going to be a fun one to watch for the Cyclones in front of those crazy crowds at Hilton Coliseum."

Name: Tyrese Hunter
New Ranking: No. 56
Old Ranking: No. 112
College Commitment: Iowa State
A fast point guard with significant athletic gifts, Hunter has shown well for himself in recent months. One of the biggest things that Hunter has done is improved on his outside shot. Because Hunter is on the smaller side, around 6-feet tall, becoming a good outside shooter was a major growth area at this time last year. Now, Hunter has made those strides and is a reliable shooter who is someone that can get it going in a hurry.
While Hunter is a bit of an attack first player as opposed to being a true set up point guard, he is more than willing to help others get better. He can score going to the rim or from deep, and then has the quickness and floor vision to get into the paint and make others better as well.
Add in that Hunter is a competitive kid with a lot of toughness, and there is reason to bet on his long term production, and thus he made a major jump in the rankings.

Hunter, Joplin, Sallis and McGowens on that list of 10 with ISU offers. Steve evaluates well.

I hate to disagree, because I think he by and large does pretty good. But Terrence Lewis, Zion Griffin, and Jakolby Long were unmitigated disasters for his program. We'll see if essentially whiffing on the entire '19 class bites him in the ass in the next couple years. Hopefully he's learned from those mistakes.

Yeah, he's very good, he's not perfect.
