Tyler Goodson announcement

What is this like valuing a RB vs his offensive line thinking if you have the best offensive line any RB would get yards?

I usually thought Goodson was their only chance of advancing the ball on offense. I didn't think their other backs looked equally dangerous.

So Breece is #38? What does that mean? In terms of his skills he is definitely not anywhere near the 20s let alone 30s. Tyler Badie is #61 and he's nearly the statistically best RB while playing in SEC?

I hear professional football in Canada is catching on lately. Best of luck.

I have no feelings for Goodson one way or the other, but this is something he should do. Hall should do the same. A bowl game is an exhibition game and these guys want to protect themselves for the pros. They should protect themselves for the pros.

So by this logic they should quit the team after like one game? When they are eliminated from the national title hunt? Conference title?

I'm not buying this. If you can get 1100 yards with that dog turd of an OC and very poor QB play, you can't be too bad of a RB.
He's pretty bad. He was a bottom half of the Big Ten RB and that's not a league with many good RBs

Don’t understand this move by him. He should transfer somewhere where he’s used correctly and maximize his ability. He’d have to absolutely kill it in workouts or the pro day er whatever to possibly get drafted. Idk I was never impressed with him. Could’ve been offensive play calling and bad blocking but the dude just got swallowed up by defenses on the regular.

Stop it. ISU was worse than Iowa this year. Even you can admit that.
Iowa met (exceeded?) their expectations despite fielding one of the worst offenses in FBS. ISU did not meet their W-L expectations despite returning a ton from last year's team.

In the data-driven rankings I prefer (because I understand how they work and agree with their assumptions), ISU and UI are ranked similarly in the high teens. These are based off of play-by-play or drive-by-drive data and are adjusted for opponent. Some have ISU higher; some have UI higher. But the difference is less than 3 places.

I've said this consistently, but head-to-head is WILDLY overrated when it comes to measuring the quality of a team. There is too much variance in the sport for any single game to mean anything. If it weren't, there wouldn't be upsets.

Goodwin was wise to pursue the NFL.

Starting RB's with some ability should jump to the NFL after their junior year. IMO RB's don't become better runners with more collegiate experience. Sure, they can become better receivers or pass blockers. But they can develop that on the practice squad and make some $.

There are a few exceptions, but most RB's have a 5-7 year career at most. So if Goodwin has the ability, he might as well get his NFL career started.

Plus, I sensed as the season progressed that Gavin Williams was getting more series vs. Ivory Kelly-Martin use as a 3rd down back.

I was laughing at first but this might be a good idea. There were 20 RB's drafted last year. Iowa's line could be even worse next year with no Linderbaum
