Two of Jantz's picks

Two weren't his fault. The first, Darks should have come back to the ball. He stood there and watched the ball get picked. The second, you can't blame the QB when the ball hits the receiver right in the hands. The other was just a great defensive play.

I think if Steele's mobility hadn't been affected by his minor injury we'd have run away with this game. He had to become a pure pocket passer last night and that is not his style.

One thing that I noticed is that Jantz threw the ball across the field from hash mark to the other side too often. That allows the ball to stay in the air longer and the defense to close and make a play on it. Just my opinion. Even though he still looks good out there.

Yeah, that was my impression. I don't think he knew it was coming his way at all. The tipped INT was thrown behind the TE, but still a catchable ball.

Might be something that teammates have to get used to, as Steele will attempt some passes that really thread the needle, so they have to be ready even if they don't feel like they are open.

Jantz just feels like he needs to turn the ball over a couple times a game to make it fair for the other team.

First was underthrown, but the receiver should have come back, still underthrown though. Probably should have had another one though on that deep ball to Reynolds, Money stopped and outplayed the DB for it, but it was a poorly thrown ball as well.

That first pic was Jantz's fault not Darks'. The ball was well underthrown and Darks' momentum was carrying him away irregardless if he saw it or not. He had his defender beat, and a good throw would've been a reception and a perfect throw might've been a TD.

The one on the sideline was just a great defensive play (but risky throw). The one to the TE was a little behind him, but should've been caught + a little bad luck.

The first was absolutely on Jantz. Darks had his man beat and Steele under threw the ball. The deep ball to Money Reynolds that left to our first TD should have been a pick too, Reynolds just made a play.

It was a TE. Can't remember if it was Hammerschidt or a different one. Hit the hands and bounced out.

maybe not Jantz fault completely, but the throws could have been better and they were in traffic. those passes needed to thread a needle.... he almost did it. Or others were open, and Im not sure about that as it was hard to see the entire field with the camera angles.

Give the UConn linebacker some credit on the third INT. The ball may have hit Hammer in the hands, but the defender punched up in between his hands as soon as the ball got there. That's just a good defensive play & I'm not going to fault either Steele or Kurt on that kind of play.

agreed..... the receivers did not help last night on the picks, but helped a freaking ton on every other pass. they were great. funny, steele has a lot of picks, but i always love the guy hes throwing too, i mean they seem to be open.

1st Pick- Completely on Jantz. Underthrown when DD had his man beat.
2nd Pick- Great play by the DB. Not a bad pass IMO, just a great play by the D.
3rd Pick- Catchable ball, but again, great play by the LB to poke it out.
4th Pick- Wait...Money saved the day. That was a pivitol play in the game.

Our defense was put in a bad spot over and over in the first half and only gave up 10 points. Great effort!!!

On a poorly thrown ball, the receiver becomes the defensive back. Gotta switch modes, and break up the pick. This is taught in middle school football. The first pick is a great example. Darks needed to try to break it up.

But, if he didn't see the pass, then that explains it.

Their defensive backs made great plays on the ball in the 1st half.

im not sure why we ran that first Int play to the wide side of the field. Thats a LONG throw. We tried it again later on our sideline and jantz threw it 10 yards out of bounds. (possibly intentionally)

Consider this- Jantz can have a rough start, but he doesn't dwell on it. He has a short memory. It's not just Jantz, tho. This team believes. How many Cyclone teams of the past would have folded after the first quarter last night? That being said, we can't continue this trend and expect to be successful in big 12 play (while it lasts). I'm confident Jantz will continue to improve on the mistakes.
